Job Summary

The Lead Process Engineer is responsible for leading process engineering activities for onshore and offshore oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, and energy transition projects across FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, and EPCIC project phases. The role involves managing process engineering deliverables, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering interfaces, ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards, and supporting safe, cost-effective, and technically sound project execution.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to the process engineering team while supporting project delivery, client engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives within complex energy infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage process engineering activities for EPC/EPCC projects from concept, FEED, and detailed engineering through commissioning support.
  • Develop and review key process deliverables including:
    • Process Design Basis
    • PFDs and P&IDs
    • Heat & Material Balances
    • Equipment Datasheets
    • Utility Consumption Reports
    • Cause & Effect Diagrams
    • Process Simulations
    • Hydraulic Calculations
    • Relief Valve Sizing and Depressuring Studies
  • Perform process simulations using Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or equivalent software.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation, Electrical, Safety, and Project Management.
  • Lead process safety studies including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA workshops.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with international codes, standards, client specifications, and company procedures.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, vendor evaluations, package reviews, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
  • Review vendor documents and participate in technical bid evaluations (TBE) and package engineering activities.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, cost estimation, and risk management activities.
  • Mentor and guide junior process engineers and support competency development within the team.
  • Interface with clients, licensors, vendors, and regulatory authorities to resolve technical and project-related issues.
  • Support proposals, tendering activities, and business development initiatives where required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in process engineering within the oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, or energy industry.
  • Proven experience in FEED and EPC/EPCIC project execution.
  • Strong knowledge of process simulation tools such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or UniSim.
  • Experience in offshore and onshore facilities including LNG, gas processing, refinery, petrochemical, FPSO, or carbon capture projects is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with international engineering standards and codes including API, ASME, ISO, and IEC.
  • Experience leading HAZOP and process safety reviews.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams within fast-paced project environments.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with brownfield and greenfield projects.
  • Exposure to energy transition projects such as hydrogen, carbon capture, sustainable fuels, or renewable energy integration.
  • Previous experience working with international EPC contractors or operator environments.
  • Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer certification is an advantage.
