Overview

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Fabrication Supervisor to lead daily operations within a busy fabrication facility supporting the energy sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising fabrication activities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity while leading and developing a skilled fabrication workforce. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge and experience in heavy fabrication or manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day fabrication shop operations to ensure safety, quality, and production targets are achieved.

  • Lead and coordinate the work of welders, fitters, and fabrication personnel.

  • Review blueprints, P&IDs, technical drawings, specifications, and job orders to determine work assignments and material requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable safety and quality standards, including OSHA, API, and ASME requirements.

  • Monitor production schedules and adjust work activities to meet project deadlines.

  • Train, mentor, and evaluate fabrication personnel to support workforce development.

  • Work closely with Quality Control and Engineering teams to resolve non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and labour tracking documentation.

  • Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Support workforce planning, recruitment, employee development, and disciplinary processes where required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience within fabrication, pipe manufacturing, or heavy industrial manufacturing.

  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes including:

    • Fitting

    • Welding (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW)

    • Cutting

    • Finishing

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and engineering drawings.

  • Strong understanding of fabrication tolerances and quality requirements.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and API and ASME standards.

  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Technical certification or Associate Degree is advantageous.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced heavy fabrication and industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Regular supervision of shop floor activities.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
