Technical Lifting Lead
Location: Doha, QatarContract Type: Contract
Job Purpose
Support project teams with extensive knowledge on lifting operations, safety protocols, and best practices. Maintain a robust and effective assurance process for the lifting discipline within major projects to ensure compliance and consistency with company standards. Review, consolidate, and update lifting standards and best practices. Reduce strategic risk exposure by participating in high-potential lifting incident investigations, identifying causal factors and root causes, recommending corrective actions, and managing the implementation and close-out of mitigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to project teams and site lifting specialists, applying relevant lifting codes of practice.
- Review and recommend improvements to practices, procedures, and plans to ensure effective and smooth project execution, promoting best practices.
- Conduct risk-based evaluation of complex technical issues that may impact overall project execution, ensuring timely delivery of technical deliverables and issue resolution.
- Consolidate and manage a resilient assurance process for project execution in compliance with lifting codes of practice (onshore/offshore).
- Provide technical support for the selection and qualification of lifting operation contractors/subcontractors, ensuring processes and procedures meet requirements and local regulations.
- Promote lifting safety leadership by supporting a proactive safety culture and implementing industry-leading safety best practices and initiatives, including extensive use of life-saving rules.
- Maintain a learning environment to turn lifting safety visions into improvement plans.
- Participate in high-potential lifting incident investigations, identify causal factors and root causes, recommend corrective actions, and manage the implementation and close-out of mitigations.
- Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with safety, health, environment, and quality policies, regulations, and standards.
- Contribute to the development of local national employees.
- Ensure all activities comply with anti-trust and competition laws and company firewall policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Sciences or Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years' experience with large projects in construction-related disciplines (e.g., construction, installation, fabrication, execution, completion, hook-up) in the oil & gas industry, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight role.
- Knowledge of international standards (API, ASME, BS, DNV, ISO, LOLER) and experience in regulatory compliance.
- High competency in lifting and rigging calculations as per DNV standard.
- Experience in establishing and managing compliance and assurance processes in accordance with corporate requirements and international standards for lifting disciplines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
