Job Description

Provide Subsea Interface Engineering support for the preparation and execution of subsea operations, collaborating closely with Drilling & Wells, Subsea Production System (SPS), Rig Contractor, installation vessels, and relevant service companies.

Main responsibilities include ensuring the proper definition, coordination, and closeout of all technical and operational interfaces between Completion equipment, SPS equipment, drilling rig systems, and installation vessels. The role covers engineering, preparation, integration testing, and offshore execution activities, with a particular focus on Tubing Head (TH), Permanent Guide Base (PGB), Xmas Tree (XT), Wellhead (WH), SWIMS, and associated installation equipment. The position is key to ensuring that subsea completion interfaces are properly engineered, tested, and operationally ready in accordance with project requirements, schedule, and HSE objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper definition and management of technical and operational interfaces between Drilling & Wells, SPS, Rig Contractor, installation vessels, and relevant contractors.
  • Ensure subsea interface readiness through engineering reviews, FATs, SITs, and other integration tests.
  • Support the preparation and execution of subsea installation activities, including PGB, TH, XT, and SWIMS related operations.
  • Identify interface risks and technical gaps in advance and coordinate their resolution with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable company rules, procedures, and project requirements.
  • Define and manage the Completion / SPS battery limits and associated technical interfaces.
  • Coordinate interfaces and integration related to TH, PGB, XT, WH, SWIMS, and associated installation equipment and tooling.
  • Review relevant SPS technical documentation and ensure timely resolution and close-out of interface issues and technical queries.
  • Participate in design reviews, FATs, SITs, and integration testing required to validate equipment and operational interfaces.
  • Coordinate the engineering and required supplies for XT deployment from a dedicated installation vessel.
  • Review and lead Critical Activity Mode of Operation (CAMO) assessments and review Wellhead fatigue analyses related to completion and subsea operations.
  • Provide technical support to Field Operations for the preparation of annulus bleed-off procedures during well ramp-up.
  • Ensure operational readiness of subsea interfaces, equipment, procedures, and documentation prior to offshore execution.
  • Provide offshore technical support and supervision for XT installation, SWIMS recovery, and, for the first wells, PGB and TH installation activities.
  • Prepare and coordinate Subsea SIMOPS dossiers, ensuring operational interfaces, specific hazards, and associated safeguards are properly identified and addressed prior to offshore execution.
  • Capture lessons learned from testing and offshore operations and ensure their integration into subsequent engineering and procedures.

HSE Activities

  • Ensure the application and respect of HSE requirements, principles, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong HSE leadership and promote high HSEQ standards during engineering, testing, and offshore operations.
  • Identify HSE risks associated with subsea interfaces and installation activities and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
  • Participate in risk assessments and relevant safety reviews associated with subsea completion activities.
  • Ensure that safety-critical interfaces between SPS equipment, Completion equipment, Rig systems, and installation vessels are properly identified and reviewed prior to operations.
  • Report any unsafe condition, technical anomaly, or potentially hazardous situation identified during engineering, testing, or offshore operations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in Mechanical, Subsea, Petroleum, or related engineering discipline.
  • Significant experience in subsea, drilling, and/or completion engineering within offshore oil & gas developments.
  • Demonstrated experience with subsea production and completion equipment, particularly Wellhead, Tubing Head, PGB, Xmas Tree, and associated installation equipment and tooling.
  • Strong experience in technical interface management between SPS, Completion, Drilling Rig, and offshore installation vessels.
  • Practical experience with equipment integration, FAT, EFAT, SIT, fit-up and stack-up testing, and management of technical punch lists.
  • Good understanding of subsea installation operations, ROV interfaces, lifting and deployment operations, Rig/Vessel capabilities, and offshore operational constraints.
  • Experience in preparation and review of operational procedures, risk assessments, TRA, CAMO, and SIMOPS dossiers.
  • Ability to review technical documentation and engineering studies, identify interface gaps, and coordinate their resolution with contractors and company disciplines.
  • Experience in operational readiness and offshore supervision of subsea installation activities is highly valuable.
  • Good knowledge of applicable offshore/subsea engineering practices and HSE requirements.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across multiple contractors and disciplines in a multicultural project environment.
  • Autonomous, rigorous, and proactive, with the ability to identify and escalate critical technical or operational issues.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of French and/or Dutch is beneficial.
