Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Umbilical & Power Cable)

Work Schedule

5 days per week, 8 hours per day.
Working schedule: 5.5 months working on / 2 weeks off

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and carry out design and engineering of subsea umbilicals and power cables, ensuring adherence to industry codes and project standards.
  • Oversee package delivery for umbilicals and power cables on large-scale offshore projects, including direct involvement in EPIC (Engineering, Procurement, Installation & Commissioning) stages.
  • Manage contractors and vendors, ensuring discipline-related activities align with project requirements.
  • Review and approve technical documentation, maintaining high standards in quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Make recommendations on technical deviations and Change Requests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to manufacturing, testing, loadout, installation, and pre-commissioning/commissioning operations related to subsea umbilicals and power cables.
  • Engage in the design and operations for subsea umbilical crossing, J-tube pulling, power cable shore approach, and pulling analysis.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering. Chartered Engineer/Professional Engineer status or equivalent is preferable.
  • Experience: Minimum 12 years of relevant post-graduate experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with at least 10 years in subsea umbilical and cable design and engineering.
  • Expertise in the design and engineering of subsea umbilicals.
  • Experience in at least 2 major offshore EPIC Oil & Gas projects with direct responsibility for umbilical and power cables package delivery.
  • Project Management Team (PMT) or Project Management Consultancy (PMC) experience.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant umbilical design codes and standards (ISO, API, international standards).
  • Proven ability to review documents for quality, safety, and compliance to project design basis and standards.
  • Experience making recommendations for technical deviations and Change Requests.
  • Ability to resolve technical challenges and work with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Previous work experience with an umbilical manufacturer is preferable.
  • Skilled in subsea umbilical crossing design, loadout, installation, and J-tube pulling operations.
  • Experienced in power cable crossing design, loadout, installation, shore approach, and shore pulling analysis.
  • Understanding of and experience in subsea umbilical pre-commissioning and commissioning operations.
