The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a flagship hyperscale data centre development from the early stages of construction and play a key role in shaping the commissioning strategy through to final handover. As part of an experienced commissioning team, you will take a lead role throughout the entire mechanical commissioning lifecycle-from developing procedures and commissioning scripts to execution, integrated testing and final project close-out. This represents an excellent opportunity for those seeking a long-term assignment on a major European development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical commissioning activities from early construction through to final handover.
  • Develop and implement the project's mechanical commissioning strategy.
  • Prepare commissioning procedures, scripts, test documentation and QA/QC documentation.
  • Manage and coordinate Level 1-5 commissioning activities.
  • Lead commissioning teams and coordinate activities with construction, QA/QC, engineering and client stakeholders.
  • Review P&IDs, technical specifications, mechanical drawings and project documentation.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues encountered during commissioning.
  • Coordinate testing and commissioning of major mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Support integrated systems testing and the interface between mechanical, electrical and control systems.
  • Work closely with BMS/BAS teams to ensure mechanical systems are fully integrated and operational.
  • Monitor progress, identify commissioning risks and ensure activities remain aligned with project schedules.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety and environmental compliance throughout commissioning.
  • Have the authority to stop unsafe acts and ensure all commissioning activities are completed safely and in accordance with project requirements.

Mechanical Systems Experience

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on commissioning experience across systems such as:

  • HVAC systems
  • Chilled water systems
  • CRAH / CRAC units
  • Air Handling Units (AHUs)
  • Pumps and associated mechanical equipment
  • Humidification systems
  • Mechanical controls
  • BMS/BAS interfaces
  • Integrated building services

Requirements

  • 5-10+ years' experience in mechanical commissioning.
  • Proven experience working within mission-critical environments; hyperscale data centre experience is essential.
  • Strong understanding of Level 1-5 commissioning processes.
  • Experience developing commissioning procedures, scripts and QA/QC documentation.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, technical specifications and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, chilled water and associated mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of BMS/BAS and integrated building services.
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management capability.
  • Excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality and project delivery.
