Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering
- Master's Degree in Structural Engineering preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years' experience in structural design and construction for large buildings and civil/infrastructure projects, including at least 6 years at supervisory level
- Strong engineering and structural design expertise
- Professional Engineer registration with a reputable international professional engineering institution is an advantage
- Previous experience in water-retaining structures and dewatering preferred
- Good knowledge of construction activities and project management
- Strong understanding of international and local standards including BS, EN, ASTM and QCS related to civil/structural engineering
- Experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover activities
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Good command of English, both written and spoken
- Computer literate with mainstream MS Office products and structural design software
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to projects, delivering civil/structural design and engineering services for all assigned engineering projects and ad hoc support, ensuring technical quality and integrity while meeting safety, time and cost objectives
- Execute civil/structural engineering activities across all stages of assigned projects
- Check and review all project drawings and documents (civil, structural, specifications, calculations and proposed materials) submitted by others, ensuring compliance with project scope, specifications and applicable standards
- Participate in and provide assistance for pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover activities
- Review and evaluate contract changes/variations in line with approved guidelines and applicable codes, standards and practices; make recommendations for approval or rejection of technical deviations
- Review and approve method statements developed by contractors for scope compliance, and liaise with them to resolve technical issues
- Lead the client technical team and assist the client Senior Project Engineer on all technical matters related to assigned projects
- Coordinate with appointed Qatar-registered consultants responsible for construction management and supervision, as required
- Conduct evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance
- Plan and coordinate activities of a team of multidiscipline engineers to ensure timely delivery of technical services to meet project requirements
- Coordinate engineering designs and develop/review multidisciplinary work scopes for projects and other engineering activities, ensuring work scopes are comprehensive and clear
- Support the development of personal technical competency and skills, and mentor coworkers
- Participate in structured training for associate engineers
- Work effectively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
- Resolve technical challenges related to civil/structural engineering work and adjacent disciplines
