Senior Reservoir Engineer
Location: Doha, Qatar (office based)Contract Type: 1 year contract
Work Schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake reservoir engineering studies to optimize field development plans.
- Analyze reservoir and well performance data and develop reservoir surveillance programs.
- Conduct reservoir management activities.
- Participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams.
- Prepare detailed and integrated development plans for underdeveloped hydrocarbon resources.
- Develop and mentor less experienced staff.
- Provide reservoir engineering support for exploration activities and studies across international non-operated assets as required.
- Responsible for new venture opportunity screening, prospect and lead evaluation, drilling preparation and monitoring, and related studies.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Expertise
- Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in reservoir engineering, with emphasis on large carbonate reservoirs.
- Significant experience working on mature oil fields under water flood.
- Strong background in reservoir surveillance and optimization.
- Experience as a reservoir engineer in exploration, appraisal, and development.
- Experience in reservoir fluid sampling, fluid property modelling, and core analysis (routine and special).
- Strong background in well test interpretation, material balance modelling, and performance modelling of vertical and horizontal wells.
- Experience in reserves evaluation, classification, and booking.
- Exposure to field life-cycle planning from exploration through project delivery and execution.
- Strong dynamic reservoir simulation experience and uncertainty modelling.
- Strong teamwork skills; experience working in a multicultural environment is an advantage.
- Effective communication skills with peers, less experienced staff, field staff, and management.
- Experience mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Experience and knowledge of current computer software for reservoir engineering applications.
- B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Preferable Experience and Expertise
- Experience in numerical reservoir simulation, particularly using Eclipse100 and 300, including history matching and field development.
- Experience in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques such as miscible/immiscible and CO2 injection.
- Ability to assess field compartmentalization issues and problems using reservoir knowledge and skills.
- Working knowledge of gas condensate reservoirs and gas field development.
- Knowledge of geo-statistics, integrated reservoir characterization, fault and fracture studies, and risk assessment/management.
- Experience in static reservoir modelling and description.
- Experience with standard reservoir engineering software, including:
- Simulation: Eclipse 100, 300, INTERSECT, and related software.
- Fluid property modelling: PVTi.
- Material balance: MBAL.
- Well test interpretation: SAPHIR.
- Reservoir surveillance: OFM.
- Well performance modelling: Prosper.
- Experience in wells and reservoir forecasting, reserve calculations, and decline curve analysis (DCA).
