Planner (Construction)

Job Purpose
The Planner (Construction) provides planning and scheduling expertise to the project team, with a focus on construction activities. The role ensures overall project schedule quality and integrity to support project execution. Responsibilities include performing various EPC schedule analyses to identify potential areas of concern and coordinating inputs for mitigation plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate input from project management team functions such as engineering, procurement, demolition, construction, completion, and interface to support EPC schedule validation.
- Perform all planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, analysis, and recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure effective project planning and scheduling are executed by contractors and subcontractors.
- Support the preparation of project controls deliverables, especially planning and scheduling deliverables in line with project management systems.
- Review and ensure effective implementation and updating of EPC project planning and scheduling procedures.
- Collect, consolidate, analyze, and report schedule trends and progress to assess overall project status and identify potential problem areas.
- Conduct schedule delay and impact analysis, review schedule recovery plans, and evaluate additional resources required for such plans.
- Implement project changes, assess schedule impacts, and ensure incorporation of approved changes into overall schedule stewardship and reporting.
- Evaluate contractor performance in project controls (planning/scheduling), address discrepancies, and provide clarifications or corrections as needed.
- Review contractor schedules and associated resources, interact with the project management team to address potential concerns, and provide planning and scheduling support to overcome execution challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, commercial, marketing, sciences, engineering, project management, supply chain management, law, communication, technologies, mathematics, or statistics.
- Minimum 6 years' experience in a business-related function or discipline, including at least 2 years in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and vendors in the oil and gas industry.
- Ability to undertake complex tasks and provide guidance to staff and internal customers.
- Initiative to deliver timely and cost-effective service based on experience.
- Ability to work independently within established procedures, plans, and budgets, and contribute to their development.
- Autonomy over scheduling and planning of own work.
- Excellent written and oral English skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good computer literacy: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Database/Power BI, and advanced-level scheduling software (e.g., Primavera) and other scheduling tools.
- Good teamwork and collaboration skills.
