Head of Quality

Job Purpose

The Head of Quality will be responsible for overseeing and delivering all Quality activities for a major oil & gas project, ensuring full compliance with technical, contractual and project quality requirements throughout all project phases, from FEED through EPC, commissioning and start-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Project Quality Management System.
• Monitor contractor progress and ensure timely issuance and approval of required quality documentation, including Project Quality Plans.
• Implement the Quality Management System throughout engineering, procurement and construction, including appropriate surveillance plans.
• Support tendering activities by providing quality-related technical clarifications and reviewing bid proposals for QA/QC compliance.
• Ensure contractual quality requirements are fulfilled, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and vendor surveillance procedures.
• Ensure project quality requirements and procedures are followed throughout the full lifecycle, from FEED and EPC through commissioning and start-up.
• Plan, coordinate and oversee internal and external quality audits covering EPC contractors, vendors and fabrication yards, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are properly implemented.
• Manage NCRs, deviation requests and lessons learned, including root-cause analysis, timely close-out and feedback to engineering, procurement and construction teams.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to project quality personnel and ensure adequate quality resources, inspection coverage and training throughout all project phases.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Sciences.
• Minimum 10 years of Quality experience within the Oil & Gas industry, including at least 2 years in a supervisory, acting supervisory, or personnel oversight capacity.
• Experience working with oil & gas operators, EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors and/or service companies.
• Experience within large-scale operating organisations, major projects and/or operations environments.
• Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, specifications, industry standards and quality tools.
• Demonstrated experience managing Quality requirements during FEED and Detailed Design, including the transition from design engineering into procurement and construction deliverables.
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC management systems and ISO 9001.
• Good knowledge of applicable international codes and standards, including API, ASME, ASTM, AWS and IEC.
• Strong leadership skills with experience guiding and supporting contractor teams.
