Senior Piping Designer / Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Contract: 2 months (potential extension)

Start Date: Immediate or from 22 April 2026

Working Hours: 8 hours per day (excluding 1-hour lunch break)

Overview

An opportunity is available for experienced Senior Piping Designers / Engineers to support a short-term, high-volume EPC project in Kuala Lumpur. This role focuses on 3D modelling, piping layout design, and multidisciplinary coordination across complex oil and gas or petrochemical projects.

This is a fast-paced assignment suited to candidates who can mobilise quickly and contribute effectively from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D models and perform piping layout and routing studies
  • Ensure all designs align with latest vendor data, equipment layouts, and project specifications
  • Maintain compliance with P and ID, line lists, and design standards
  • Ensure designs consider accessibility, operability, and maintainability
  • Coordinate closely with mechanical, structural, and E and I disciplines
  • Incorporate stress analysis requirements into piping design
  • Define pipe spacing, supports, and routing considerations
  • Identify and propose pipe support locations and prepare related documentation
  • Ensure clash-free models through multidisciplinary coordination
  • Prepare and update model data and attributes accurately
  • Support internal model reviews and design checks
  • Supervise and guide junior piping designers where required
  • Perform site visits when necessary

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare plot plans and equipment layouts for onshore, offshore, and floating facilities
  • Perform 3D modelling of piping systems and equipment
  • Conduct piping design checks and reviews
  • Develop pipe support design and drawings
  • Participate in internal design reviews and coordination meetings
  • Ensure compliance with project standards and procedures

Requirements

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in oil and gas or petrochemical projects
  • Strong experience in EPC project environments
  • Proficient in Aveva E3D or Intergraph SP3D
  • Strong technical knowledge of piping design and engineering principles
  • Experience working on brownfield projects
  • Ability to read and interpret P and ID drawings
  • Strong coordination and teamwork skills
  • Leadership capability and ability to guide junior team members
