Engineering Lead (Hydrographic)
Location: Doha, Qatar (Onshore / Ras Laffan project sites)
Contract: 36 months
Work Schedule: 5 days per week (12-week rotation / 2-week off rotation)
Working Hours: 8–10 hours per day
Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced Engineering Lead (Hydrographic) to support a major LNG offshore and nearshore development programme in Qatar. This role provides technical leadership across hydrographic and survey engineering activities supporting dredging, reclamation, and marine infrastructure works.
You will act as the focal point for all survey-related engineering activities, ensuring high-quality data acquisition, analysis, and integration into project design and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning, execution, and delivery of hydrographic, geophysical, and geotechnical survey activities
- Define survey scope, methodologies, and technical specifications in line with project requirements
- Manage and supervise survey contractors and ensure compliance with technical, contractual, and HSE standards
- Review and approve survey procedures, methodologies, and deliverables including bathymetry and seabed mapping
- Ensure quality control, validation, and integration of survey data into engineering and design workflows
- Interface with subsea, marine, pipeline, and construction teams to support project execution
- Identify and manage risks related to seabed conditions and survey uncertainty
- Support project planning including cost, schedule, and resource allocation for survey campaigns
- Ensure compliance with international standards including IHO, IMCA, and ISO requirements
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers and survey teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, Geophysics, or Ocean Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of engineering experience, including at least 4 years in oil and gas
- At least 1 year in a supervisory or lead capacity managing contractors or service providers
- Strong experience in offshore construction, marine operations, or subsea projects
- Experience managing survey contractors across project phases (FEED to execution preferred)
- Strong understanding of hydrographic and geospatial data systems
- Familiarity with international standards such as IHO and IMCA
- Experience in LNG or large-scale energy infrastructure projects is preferred
- Exposure to Middle East projects, particularly Qatar, is an advantage
- Strong analytical, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent written and spoken English
