Job Purpose
Advise and support Mechanical Engineering activities in the areas of piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and packaged equipment for both onshore and offshore facilities during the EPC and Start-up phase until handover to the permanent Asset. Ensure project deliverables meet requirements in terms of Safety, Operability, Reliability, and Maintainability over the facility design life cycle.
Reporting and Relationships
- Reports to: Lead of Mechanical Engineering
- Internal Contacts: Regular contact with Project Management Team (PMT) and Operations departments, periodic contact with Engineering & Projects Group and HSEQ
- External Contacts: Frequent contact with Subject Matter Experts, EPC contractors, vendors, suppliers, and engineering consultants
Job Context & Major Challenges
- Influence project decisions, considering both CAPEX and OPEX for the full project life cycle
- Ensure compliance with specifications, processes, and procedures for assigned projects
- Participate in reviews and provide technical inputs to designs and procedures for implementing approved field operations while mitigating new technology risks

Key Responsibilities
- Provide all aspects of Mechanical Engineering support, including design reviews, commissioning, start-up, failure analysis, advanced troubleshooting, and developing work packs for maintenance-executed modifications
- Define and document best practices within area of expertise; recommend performance improvement initiatives
- Provide technical input to other disciplines and functions to support overall business objectives; identify plant problems involving static equipment and piping
- Control and supervise activities of contractors, consultants, and service providers
- Guide less experienced engineers in implementing integrity and reliability systems
- Support and facilitate smooth completion of project tie-in requirements for systems within area of responsibility
- Maintain Issue Register, identifying and resolving critical issues including new technology risks that could impact project Reliability and Availability
- Provide Management of Change related technical support to assigned Assets (Operations) and deliver timely solutions to sustain Asset Integrity and Reliability
- Participate in Safety Workshops, Cold Eye Reviews, Value Improvement Workshops, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), scenario-based risk assessments, and risk screenings
Requirements
- Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Experience:
- At least 6 years' experience in an oil and gas environment
- Attainment of Senior Engineer level competencies as per Mechanical Technical Competencies
- Knowledge in performing design calculation/verification using software such as PV Elite, CAESAR II, Nozzle Pro
- Technical and Business Skills & Behavioural Competencies:
- Sound engineering judgement and understanding of pressure vessel repair/alterations in compliance with NBIC
- Ability to make informed decisions under stressful conditions
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Computer literacy with regular use of professional office and technical applications
