Senior Corrosion Engineer
Contract Type
Initial contract duration: 24 months to 36 months.
Working Location
Qatar Onshore Base. Preference for candidates with offshore experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, such as Chemical, Metallurgical or Materials Engineering.
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 6 years' experience in corrosion control and mitigation within the oil/gas production industry.
- Skilled and competent in chemical inhibition, corrosion monitoring, material selection, degradation mechanisms, and failure analysis for sour service and utilities facilities.
- Proficient in protective coatings, corrosion monitoring, chemical inhibition, and cathodic protection.
- Experience with corrosion systems and in-plant facilities handling sour feed gas and marine climate exposure, including utilities.
- Working knowledge of national/local codes, international standards, statutory regulations, NDT, and inspection techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Review material and design requirements for new projects and modifications, including monitoring criteria for all corrosion programs such as Cathodic Protection, Protective Coating & Lining, Chemical Inhibition, and Corrosion Monitoring Systems; submit recommendations to supervisors.
- Conduct corrosion monitoring, prevention activities, and investigations, including analysis of Integrity Operating Windows impacting corrosion and advising on operational suitability.
- Develop Scope of Work (SOW) and participate in reviews of test reports for technical evaluation of corrosion-related contracts, including chemical selection for pipelines and process plants.
- Develop painting/coating requirements for pipelines, structures, equipment, and tanks; recommend system and procedures for quality control; inspect paint condition and collaborate with inspectors for quality checks.
- Provide advice in the field of corrosion engineering within the organization or as a technical representative with external parties (shareholders, vendors, other corrosion consultants).
- Develop and maintain corrosion and integrity-related procedures, processes, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance and improve corrosion mitigation effectiveness.
- Assess regional corrosion control programs for consistency with company-wide policies and standards.
- Develop, implement, and manage corrosion engineering programs for facilities including offshore platforms, pipelines, onshore plants, refineries, storage, export, and loading facilities. Ensure cost-effective corrosion control and monitoring equipment usage.
- Review and analyze corrosion engineering reports, test results, and failure investigations; recommend corrective actions to restore equipment functionality, improve performance, or extend operating life. Perform risk analyses for corrosion assessments.
- Drive technical innovation and provide expertise in corrosion control and mitigation methods such as chemical treatment, cathodic protection, materials selection, protective coatings, and managing corrosive process conditions.
- Raise PMCRs for corrosion studies, cathodic protection, and coatings & lining changes.
