- Rotation (Single Status): 12 Weeks ON / 2 Weeks OFF
- Residential (Couple Status): 30 days annually
Job Purpose
Provide electrical engineering expertise consistent with Engineer level competency to contribute to department objectives and support operations expansion and start-up activities.
Reporting and Relationships
- Reports to Head of Engineering
- Regularly interacts with other engineering disciplines and internal departments
- Engages with project management teams and various stakeholders
Job Context & Major Challenges
- Operates in a technical environment interfacing with multiple stakeholders
- Contributes to multidisciplinary tasks while delivering electrical engineering expertise
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general electrical engineering support to projects, operations, and maintenance to help meet division strategy and goals
- Demonstrate working knowledge of electrical drawings and components including:
- Single Line Diagram symbols and legends (e.g., 132kV/66kV/33kV/11kV/6.6kV/415V isolator/fuse/switch/circuit breaker, MCCB/MCB)
- Basic schematic diagrams of PDB/LDB/415V LV switchgear
- Components such as transformers, relays, UPS, cables, motors, generators, capacitors
- Fundamentals of protection relays, Overcurrent, Earth fault, Under voltage protection
- Principles of power generation and control (Isochronous and Droop modes, load shedding, generator operation)
- Apply basic electrical theory and calculations, including:
- Active and reactive power
- Power factor calculation
- Synchronous speed at particular frequency
- Load factor, utilization factor, diversity factor
- Maintain awareness of standards and recommendations:
- Familiar with IEC standards for common electrical components (switchgear, transformer, motors), hazardous area electrical equipment
- Understand hazards in oil and gas plants and safe work practices:
- Knowledge of hazardous area classification (zone classification and type of protections, e.g., Ex-d/e)
- Electrical safe work practices (zero energy demonstration, arc flash hazards)
- Provide information to project management teams on current operation and maintenance practices, review scope deviation requests, and assess risks
- Support and participate in FAT/SAT activities conducted by project teams
Requirements
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in an oil and gas environment
- Technical and Business Skills:
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Computer literate and knowledgeable in relevant software tools and specifications
- Competency at Electrical Engineer level as per technical standards
