Senior AWS DevOps Migration Engineer

Location: Warsaw, Poland
Start Date: 1st October 2026
End Date: 31st December 2027
Work Style: Hybrid - Minimum 2 Office Days Weekly

Role Objective / Success Criteria / KPI

  • Support enterprise AWS migrations in accordance with the agreed target architecture and migration strategy.
  • Design, implement and operate secure, scalable and reliable AWS platform services, migration tooling and deployment pipelines.
  • Deliver lift-and-shift, re-architecture, database and data migrations with controlled cutover and effective hypercare.
  • Improve platform governance, observability, automation and operational support using AWS and Infrastructure as Code technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess workloads and select appropriate migration approaches in line with the AWS 6 Rs framework.
  • Prepare target environments, install required software and execute migrations, cutovers and post-migration hypercare.
  • Support containerisation and re-architecture using Amazon EKS, Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Build infrastructure and application deployment pipelines using Terraform, GitHub, GitOps and AWS-native tools.
  • Migrate databases using AWS Database Migration Service and AWS Schema Conversion Tool.
  • Design data-transfer solutions using AWS DataSync, Storage Gateway and Amazon S3.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for AWS platform services and core products.
  • Collaborate with platform architects, application teams and business stakeholders throughout delivery.

Tasks

  • Use AWS Application Migration Service where appropriate for lift-and-shift workloads.
  • Install migration agents, perform assessments, convert schemas, synchronise data and manage database cutovers.
  • Provision and manage cloud resources through Terraform, AWS CloudFormation and AWS Account Factory for Terraform.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across EC2, S3, EKS, RDS and other AWS platform services.
  • Configure IAM, AWS Organizations, Service Control Policies, Microsoft Entra ID integrations and AWS Network Firewall policies.
  • Apply the AWS Well-Architected Framework and NIST cloud-security standards across platform and CI/CD solutions.
  • Set up monitoring, KPIs, alarms and alerts using Amazon CloudWatch and AWS Config, and support incident resolution and platform optimisation.
  • Provide AWS platform training and create onboarding guides, FAQs and operating procedures.

Deliverables

  • Migrated applications, databases and datasets aligned with the approved target architecture.
  • Secure and reusable Infrastructure as Code modules and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Configured AWS governance, identity, access-control and security policies.
  • Operational monitoring, alerts, support procedures and incident-resolution outputs.
  • Migration plans, cutover documentation, onboarding guides and knowledge-transfer material.

Decision Authority / Responsibility

  • Recommend appropriate AWS migration patterns, tooling and automation within the agreed architecture and strategy.
  • Own assigned migration and platform-engineering activities through assessment, build, testing, cutover and hypercare.
  • Apply governance, security, reliability and cost-management controls to AWS platform solutions.
  • Escalate material architecture, security, operational, cost or delivery risks to the appropriate stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale cloud migrations using the AWS 6 Rs framework.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services and CI/CD pipeline development.
  • Experience with AWS Account Factory for Terraform, CloudFormation, Terraform, GitHub, GitOps and AWS Developer Tools.
  • Experience with AWS Systems Manager, Ansible and automated cloud operations.
  • Strong knowledge of IAM, Microsoft Entra ID, AWS Organizations, Service Control Policies and NIST cloud-security standards.
  • Experience with AWS FinOps and observability tools, including Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, AWS Glue, CloudWatch and AWS Config.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and orchestration using Amazon EKS or comparable Kubernetes platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder-management skills, including explaining technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Able to work effectively within international, Agile and cross-functional teams.
  • Successful completion of the required background verification before onboarding.
