Piping Supervisor
Location: Southern SwedenContract Type: Short-term contract (approx. 3 months with possibility of extension)
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 hours/day; Saturday 08:00-13:00
Start Date: ASAP
Package: Day rate + allowance + accommodation + flights + local transport
The selected candidate should be available to work the second shift, approximately from 2:00 p.m. to midnight. This shift may alternate weekly with another supervisor.
Role Purpose
Supervise and coordinate all piping construction activities on site, ensuring piping systems are erected, inspected, tested, documented, and completed in accordance with project requirements, approved drawings, applicable codes, and established construction schedules. Act as the primary site focal point for piping installation activities, coordinating subcontractors, construction teams, quality personnel, and project management to achieve safe and timely project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Piping Construction Supervision:
- Supervise day-to-day piping erection activities across designated project areas.
- Ensure piping works are executed in accordance with approved construction drawings, specifications, procedures, and schedules.
- Coordinate piping crews, subcontractors, and construction resources to achieve project objectives.
- Monitor installation productivity and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
- Ensure all piping activities are completed safely and to the required quality standards.
- Welding & Fabrication Oversight:
- Supervise piping fabrication and field installation works.
- Monitor welding activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and project requirements.
- Coordinate with QA/QC personnel regarding weld inspections and documentation.
- Verify material traceability requirements are maintained throughout construction activities.
- Support resolution of welding and fabrication-related technical issues.
- Testing & Mechanical Completion:
- Coordinate preparation and execution of pressure testing activities.
- Support development and completion of test packages.
- Verify system readiness for hydrostatic, pneumatic, flushing, and cleaning activities.
- Coordinate with commissioning and QA/QC teams during testing and turnover phases.
- Ensure punch list items are addressed and closed in a timely manner.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Review and interpret piping documentation including arrangement drawings, support drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, test packages, and material tracking documentation.
- Monitor spool tracking and installation progress.
- Verify completion and accuracy of construction records and reports.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams regarding inspection reports, NCRs, and turnover dossiers.
- Maintain accurate progress reporting and daily construction records.
- Planning & Coordination:
- Coordinate piping construction activities with other disciplines including mechanical, structural, electrical, and commissioning teams.
- Participate in daily and weekly construction coordination meetings.
- Assist construction management in planning work fronts and resource allocation.
- Monitor project priorities and adjust site activities accordingly.
- Identify and communicate risks, constraints, and potential schedule impacts.
- HSE Compliance:
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on site.
- Ensure all piping activities comply with project HSE requirements and local regulations.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings as required.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions and behaviours.
- Support incident prevention and corrective action implementation.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Supervise piping erection and installation activities on site.
- Coordinate daily work activities of piping crews and subcontractors.
- Review piping drawings and installation requirements prior to execution.
- Monitor construction progress against project schedules.
- Verify correct installation of supports, spools, valves, and associated piping components.
- Coordinate welding inspections and quality control activities.
- Support pressure testing, flushing, and system handover activities.
- Track spool installation status and construction progress.
- Attend daily coordination and safety meetings.
- Prepare progress reports and communicate site updates to project management.
- Resolve construction issues and escalate technical concerns where necessary.
- Ensure project quality and safety requirements are maintained at all times.
Requirements
- Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of proven site experience supervising piping erection activities on international industrial plant projects.
- Strong experience in piping construction, welding, pressure testing, and commissioning support.
- Previous experience working on large-scale industrial, steel, energy, process plant, petrochemical, refinery, or manufacturing projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and site construction teams.
- Experience working on overseas EPC construction projects is essential.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of international standards related to piping erection, welding, testing, and mechanical completion.
- Ability to interpret and review piping arrangement drawings, support drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, test packages, and construction specifications.
- Knowledge of pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, reinstatement, and turnover processes.
- Familiarity with spool tracking systems and piping progress management.
- Strong construction troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Software & Systems:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Capable of navigating and reviewing 3D plant models.
- Familiarity with electronic document management and construction management systems is advantageous.
- Communication & Leadership:
- Strong supervisory and team leadership skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with construction, engineering, QA/QC, commissioning, and client representatives.
- Excellent reporting and communication abilities.
- Capable of working within a multicultural project environment and managing multiple priorities.
