Position Overview
An experienced Project Manager is sought to support the execution of distributed solar projects across a growing portfolio. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects from late-stage development and pre-construction through construction, commissioning, Commercial Operation Date (COD), and final closeout. This role involves close coordination with engineering teams, EPC contractors, subcontractors, utilities, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have direct experience managing distributed generation, C&I, or community solar projects and be comfortable overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage distributed solar projects from pre-construction/NTP through construction, commissioning, COD, and closeout.
- Develop, maintain, and track project schedules, budgets, milestones, and overall project performance.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, interconnection, permitting, and commissioning activities.
- Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and other external project partners.
- Review project drawings, specifications, scopes of work, contracts, schedules, and change orders.
- Monitor construction progress and identify schedule, cost, quality, or safety risks before they impact project delivery.
- Coordinate with utilities regarding interconnection requirements, inspections, testing, energization, and PTO.
- Work closely with engineering teams to resolve design and field-related issues.
- Track procurement and delivery of major equipment and materials.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, invoices, change orders, and cost reporting.
- Lead regular project meetings and provide clear updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, quality, safety, and contractor performance.
- Support commissioning, punch-list completion, project turnover, and final documentation.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable safety requirements, permits, utility standards, contracts, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of project management experience within solar, renewable energy, or electrical construction.
- Direct experience with distributed generation, C&I solar, or community solar projects strongly preferred.
- Experience delivering ground-mount, rooftop, and/or carport solar projects.
- Understanding of solar construction, electrical systems, civil/site work, utility interconnection, and commissioning.
- Experience managing EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and engineering partners.
- Strong knowledge of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and change-order management.
