SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION
Position reports to: Start-up Supervisors
The role is organizationally under Major Projects Field Operations.
Daily reporting at site locations will be to the Start-up Supervisors.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
During the onshore construction and commissioning phase in the yard, the start-up MultiTech will assist the Start-up Supervisor to:
- Witness the Operational Test Procedure (OTP).
- Execute the OTP.
- Execute commissioning activities (leak test, function test, etc.).
- Assist with preparation of start-up procedures and operations.
The Multi-Tech will be accommodated in offshore temporary accommodation. They will follow commissioning activities as a Field Operation representative seconded to the Start-up Supervisor and prepare the first oil of the new wellhead platform.
In close collaboration with the Operating Authority on site (OTL) and the Commissioning Site Leader (CSL), the MultiTech will:
- Assist the production team during commissioning activities.
- Assist the Start-up Supervisor to ensure good preparation of start-up procedures leading to first oil.
- Assist the Start-up Supervisor to ensure the Field Operation core crew is fully aware of procedures applicable for the new installation and the start-up sequence.
- Anticipate temporary configurations required and the corresponding spading plan.
- Assist the Start-up Supervisor as advisor with the Major Projects team to ensure proper start-up preparation.

ACTIVITIES
- Identify, with the Start-up Supervisor and Operating Authority (OTL), the procedures and precautions required to provide a safe environment for intended start-up activities.
- Assist the Start-up Supervisor and finalize on-site start-up procedures, sharing them with the Field Operation core crew to make them applicable on site.
- Assist the Start-up Supervisor to finalize a detailed start-up sequence in close collaboration with the core field operation crew on site.
- Participate in preparation of kick-off meetings for start-up activities.
- Participate in preparation of risk assessments for activities to be performed during start-up.
- Prepare, as Area Authority, the potential permits to work required for start-up activities associated with Company Only Fluid (COF).
- Liaise with the Start-up Supervisor on the main site to coordinate progress of the start-up.
- Contribute to updating start-up monitoring tools as required with the Start-up Supervisor.
- Take part in all Permit to Work meetings related to start-up and commissioning activities.
- Witness, along with the Start-up Supervisor, the Operational Tests performed by commissioning and liaise with the field operation team.
- Assist the Start-up Supervisor in preparing requests and orders for required start-up tools, ensuring proper storage and identification of these tools.
- Prepare the operation of first fill with the commissioning team.
- Prepare arrival on site (PTW, KOM, JSA, etc.) of vendors involved in start-up of the facility.
- Identify and check critical valves (especially on brownfield areas) used as battery limits for leak tests.
- Check any type B and C punch list items and investigate them if requested by the Start-up Supervisor, Field Operations Lead, OTL or OIM.
- Ensure the list of inhibitions and isolations, with associated certificates and risk assessments, is properly signed and validated by relevant persons.
- Be aware of potential downgraded situations on site and update the core crew on any changes associated with start-up activity.
- Participate in HazId, JSA and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews of new facilities.
- Prepare, update and check on site the red line mark-up P&ID at the end of construction and during commissioning. Ensure a set of up-to-date P&IDs is always available for the field operation team.
- Contribute to incident-free initiatives on site by reporting any anomaly, defect, bad practice, lack of equipment or lack of competence.
- Assist the Start-up Supervisor to ensure all operators on site are fully aware of new safety systems and process upgrades introduced by the project.
- Maintain local signage and barriers adapted to the situation over time, with special attention to SimOps boundaries, exit walkways and scaffolds.
- Assist teams with procedures for mechanical isolations, de-isolations and draining.
- Suggest improvements and request modifications where Operating Procedures are not satisfactory.
All staff must be willing to participate in crisis response training and to assist during emergency response situations if required.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
- Full-time onshore work during engineering and construction in yards.
- Offshore rotation during hook-up, commissioning and start-up.
- Travel between sites will be necessary.
- During the offshore phase, work will be on rotation 28 days / 28 days offshore.
- The position will transition to Offshore Field Operations on completion of the project.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education and relevant experience:
- Education: Higher National Diploma or certificate (equivalent to A-levels + 2 years of study).
- Industry experience: Minimum 5 years experience in oil and gas production operations.
Technical, personal and/or linguistic competencies:
- Ability to work independently while maintaining good relations with colleagues and others.
- Proven sense of operational responsibility, with courage to intervene and challenge when necessary.
- Previous experience with offshore operations, production, oil and gas; preferably former control room operators.
- Willingness to work flexible and extended shifts as required.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Computer literate.
Professional or HSE certifications:
- Basic firefighting.
- T-BOSIET, H2S training OPITO approved.
- PTW training and JSA awareness for the relevant national operator.
- Confined Space Entry & Rescue, Authorized Gas Tester.
- Lifting and rigging training, manual handling training (aligned with local operator standards).
- Radiation protection awareness.
- Hazard and energy control lockout and tagout awareness.
Additional Information
Multi Technician - Process (Production / Mechanical):
- Thorough knowledge of all types of pumps, valves, compressors and prime movers, including shaft/pump alignment.
- Broad production operator experience preferred.
