Accountabilities
- Assist Start-up Supervisor during the onshore construction and commissioning phase with:
- Witnessing and executing Operational Test Procedure (OTP).
- Commissioning activities such as leak tests and function tests.
- Preparation of start-up procedures and operations.
- Participate in offshore commissioning activities, supporting the preparation for the first oil of the new wellhead platform.
- Collaborate with Operating Authority (OTL) and the Commissioning Site Leader (CSL) during commissioning and start-up phases.
- Assist in ensuring start-up procedures and operation crew readiness for new installations.
- Support anticipation and planning for temporary configurations and spading plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and implement safe procedures for start-up activities in collaboration with Start-up Supervisor and Operating Authority.
- Finalize and share on-site start-up procedures and sequences with the core operation crew.
- Participate in kick-off and risk assessment meetings for start-up activities.
- Prepare permits to work for start-up activities, particularly those involving Company Only Fluid (COF).
- Coordinate start-up progress with site team and update start-up monitoring tools as required.
- Participate in permit to work meetings relating to start-up and commissioning.
- Assist with operational tool requests, storage, and identification for start-up.
- Prepare for the operation of first fill during commissioning.
- Arrange for vendor arrival, ensuring all safety and operational prerequisites are met.
- Verify critical valves for leak tests and manage punch list investigations as requested.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation such as Red line mark-up P&ID for field operations team.
- Contribute to continuous improvements and safety initiatives on site, ensuring all operators' awareness of new safety systems and process upgrades.
- Ensure proper signage, barriers, and safety measures are maintained, especially around SimOps areas.
- Suggest operational improvements and modifications as needed.
- Participate in crisis response training and emergency response activities when required.
Context and Environment
- Full-time onshore work during Engineering and Construction phases in yards.
- Offshore rotation during HUC and start-up phases (rotation 28 days on / 28 days off at offshore Al Shaheen Field).
- Position transitions to Offshore FOPS on project completion.
- Travel between sites required.
Requirements
- Education: Higher national diploma or certificate (equivalent to A-levels plus two years' study).
- Industry Experience: Minimum 5 years in oil and gas production operations.
- Technical, Personal, and Linguistic Competencies:
- Ability to work independently while maintaining good relations with colleagues and team members.
- Operational responsibility, ability to intervene and challenge when necessary.
- Prior offshore, production, oil & gas experience; preferably as a former control room operator.
- Willingness to work flexible and extended shifts.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Computer literate.
- Professional or HSE Certifications:
- Basic firefighting.
- T-BOSIET and H2S training OPITO approved.
- PTW training & JSA awareness.
- Confined Space Entry & Rescue, Authorized Gas Tester.
- Lifting and rigging training, manual handling training.
- Radiation protection awareness.
- Hazard & Energy control Logout & Tagout awareness.
- Multi Technician - Instruments:
- Thorough knowledge of instrumentation measurement signal principles, safety systems (ESD/ Fire & Gas), and field calibration equipment.
- Expertise in Ex philosophies and principles in the petrochemical industry; CompEx (Ex1-4) certification required.
- Experience with Small Tube Boring qualifications.
- Production Operator experience advantageous.
- Multi Technician - Electrical:
- Thorough knowledge of HV/LV equipment, electrical systems, and switchgear.
- Able to read electrical circuit diagrams.
- Expertise in Ex philosophies and principles in the petrochemical industry; CompEx (Ex1-4) certification required.
- Production Operator experience advantageous.
