Offshore rotational position (28 x 28) covering 12-hour day or night shifts
Job Dimensions
- Direct supervision for the implementation of Operational Programs (Drilling, Completion, Intervention) in line with HSE and Operational Standards, laws and statutory obligations, and industry best practices
- Deliver fully functional wells on time and within budget
- Responsible for managing offshore operations (approximately 100-150 personnel on board), leading an offshore team of 4-6 people
Context and Environment
- High exposure to drilling hazards, requiring highly skilled supervision
Key Responsibilities
- HSE Leadership: Lead safety culture as the top priority
- Operational Oversight: Co-lead simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) on crowded live production platforms in a H2S environment
- Efficient Operations: Safely drive offshore drilling operations, continually improving performance and efficiency
Activities
- HR & Team Leadership:
- Establish a solid relationship with the Superintendent based on mutual trust and respect
- Provide strong leadership to the offshore team, including HSE, logistics, fluids, and well services supervisors
- Mentor less experienced personnel onsite
- HSE:
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies and procedures, especially HSE
- Coordinate activities with Production Team, reviewing permits, JSAs, and risk assessments prior to any SIMOPS
- Promote HSE as the primary focus of offshore drilling operations
- Ensure rig contractor compliance with the safety management system and achieve key HSE performance objectives
- Follow up and resolve issues from audits, safety cards, and contract preparation or feedback meetings
- Operations:
- Supervise implementation of operational programs
- Provide daily job instructions to drilling contractors and service companies
- Personally supervise delicate or risky rig floor operations
- Optimize operations with input from engineering, geology, and reservoir teams
- Prepare for jobs and anticipate potential problems by planning alternative strategies
- Review operating procedures
- Oversee or control daily operational reporting and costing
- Feedback learnings for continual improvement of future wells
- Organize and coordinate offshore logistics
- Participate in crisis response situations as required
- Performance Management:
- Drive operational performance
- Ensure lessons learned are captured, feedback provided, and implemented for upcoming wells
- Challenge well delivery programs for improved durations through strong communication with onshore teams
- Analyze live data and recommend performance improvements

Requirements
- Education: Diploma or Bachelors in engineering
- Experience: 10 to 15 years of relevant experience
- Experience with horizontal wells (especially extended reach drilling) and simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) highly valued
- Certifications: IWCF Level 4 (surface or subsea); OPITO-approved T-BOSIET
- Language: Fluent in English with strong communication skills
