Offshore Coating Supervisor
Location: Paramaribo, SurinameContract Type: Annually Renewable Contract
Rotation: 35 days on, 35 days off (7 days per week, 12 hours per day)
Start Date: February 2027 (estimated)
Contract Duration: Until 31/12/2028 (with possibility of renewal)
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor coating activities carried out by contractors and subcontractors onboard the vessel, ensuring technical requirements are met.
- Apply HSE standards and safety culture onboard the installation vessel.
- Ensure implementation of approved procedures during offshore operations or manage changes as required.
- Supervise all offshore operations onboard the installation vessel (J-Lay / S-Lay / PLSV / MSV).
- Act as the focal point onboard the vessel for site representatives and in case of emergency.
- Provide daily reports to the SURF Installation Manager and Deputy.
- Maintain awareness of and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and company HSEQ standards.
- Contribute to HSEQ performance improvement and actively participate in safety awareness and initiative schemes.
- Ensure all operational deliverables and procedures are prepared in accordance with design and installation engineering results.
- Review contractor or supplier documentation (application procedures, ITP, etc.) in coordination with other disciplines.
- Monitor and control the implementation of approved procedures, surveillance plans, inspection, and test plans.
- Review and ensure all material certificates and calibration equipment certification files are up to date.
- Ensure works are closely inspected by the contractor's QC inspection team and perform routine and random inspections.
- Report any anomaly or non-conformity immediately to the Company Site Representative and attend daily meetings.
- Support the company representative for coordination and reporting to the Project Manager.
- Demonstrate personal commitment to HSEQ policy and adapt to changes in work practices and job activities.
Requirements
- Engineer/Offshore Supervisor with a minimum of 15 years' experience in the oil and gas industry, especially in SURF.
- Experience in major EPCI projects and construction background.
- Deep knowledge of SIMOPS and HSE rules.
- Ability to identify, analyse, and solve problems related to HSE, technical, procurement, transportation, storage, preservation, engineering, construction, quality control, schedule, and costs.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and accept strong responsibility.
- Willingness to contribute and adhere to the safety and environment requirements of the project.
- Technical understanding of all involved disciplines.
- Fluent English (spoken and written).
- Knowledge of offshore operations, including rigid pipelay (S and J-lay) and structures installation.
- Working experience on rigid lay vessel, PLSV, OSR.
Certifications
- Painting & WET insulation - level III (NS 476) ACQPA, FROSIO, NACE.
- Pipe coating inspector with strong experience in IMPP, IMPU, stand-alone FBE and HBE liquid epoxy solutions with application in offshore conditions.
- Knowledge of relevant codes: ISO 12736, ISO 21809-1, ISO 12944 (parts 1, 3, 4, 7, 8), ISO 8501, ISO 8502, ISO 8503, ISO 16276 (parts 1, 2), ISO 19840, ISO 4628 (parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

- CTA Cause Tree Analysis.
- Golden rules training.
- Offshore fit to work certificate (OGUK type).
- Seaman's book.
