IT Architect / Domain Architect (Power Grid, IT/OT)

Work Style: Hybrid (minimum 3 days per week onsite), 40 hours per week, 5 days per week
Role Purpose
Support Sweden's largest electricity distribution network and critical national infrastructure by joining an architecture function responsible for enterprise, business, IT, and information architecture. Act as an interim Domain Architect / IT Architect, defining, governing, and implementing target architecture across the OT and IT boundary, with a focus on operations and maintenance. Lead architecture work from strategic direction through to practical implementation, ensuring coherent and sustainable architectural development.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape and drive the long-term IT strategy for the operations and maintenance domain.
- Define target architectures, roadmaps, and decision-support material for strategic technology change.
- Establish architectural direction for OT/IT integration, interoperability, and distributed system landscapes.
- Develop strategies for information technology, integration, data management, SCADA, OT systems, and IP-based communications.
- Guide the move towards a more modular and future-ready IT architecture.
- Ensure close alignment between architecture, business operations, OT, IT, and security functions.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to translate strategic architecture into deliverable solutions.
Tasks
- Provide architectural support for the SAP S/4HANA upgrade.
- Support the modernisation of the BizTalk integration platform.
- Define and develop OT/IT integration capability.
- Support the continued development of the data and analytics platform.
- Develop architecture principles and designs for integration, data management, interoperability, and communications.
- Coordinate architectural decisions with security, operations, OT teams, and group-wide IT.
- Apply relevant architecture methods and frameworks in a practical way that reflects business needs.
- Document architectural decisions, dependencies, and recommendations clearly in Swedish and English.
Deliverables
- A defined target architecture for the operations and maintenance domain across OT and IT.
- Architecture roadmaps and decision-support material for key transformation initiatives.
- Documented architectural direction for integration, data, SCADA, OT systems, and IP-based communications.
- Architecture input and governance for SAP S/4HANA, BizTalk, OT/IT integration, and data-platform transformations.
- Clear implementation guidance and alignment across architecture, business, OT, IT, and security stakeholders.
Authority / Accountability
- Define, govern, and support the implementation of target architecture within the OT/IT domain.
- Provide architectural direction from strategy through to practical delivery.
- Ensure architecture develops coherently and sustainably across business-critical and security-sensitive environments.
- Work within the wider architecture function and coordinate decisions with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Academic degree in IT, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
- At least 10 years of architecture experience, for example as a Domain, IT, Solution, or Systems Architect.
- Documented experience producing target architectures, roadmaps, and decision-support material.
- Experience working with complex IT environments in business-critical or security-classified settings.
- Very good written and verbal communication skills in Swedish and English.
- Strong knowledge of SCADA and OT systems, network architecture, and IP-based communications.
- Strong knowledge of integration, distributed system landscapes, and security within critical infrastructure.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, including NIS/NIS2, IEC 61850, and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Practical experience applying established frameworks such as TOGAF and SAFe.
- Experience in the energy or power-grid sector, OT/IT convergence in critical environments, or asset-intensive organisations is desirable.
