Role Overview

An experienced HPHT Well Test Engineer is required to support an upcoming offshore well testing campaign in Denmark. The successful candidate will initially be involved in onshore well test planning, preparation, and readiness activities in Esbjerg, before transitioning offshore to provide specialist technical support during the execution of HPHT well testing operations.

This role demands a strong background in high-pressure/high-temperature well testing, offshore operations, and the safe planning and execution of technically complex well test programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the planning, preparation, and execution of HPHT well testing operations.
• Provide technical input into well test programmes, procedures, and operational planning.
• Participate in onshore preparation and readiness activities prior to mobilisation of the rig.
• Review well test equipment requirements, specifications, operating limits, and proposed configurations.
• Support equipment selection, preparation, inspection, testing, and mobilisation activities.
• Review operational procedures, risk assessments, contingency plans, and associated well test documentation.
• Ensure well testing activities are planned and executed in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and recognised industry standards.
• Provide specialist HPHT well testing expertise to drilling, completions, and well operations teams.
• Support pre-job meetings, technical reviews, HAZIDs, HAZOPs, and operational risk assessments as required.
• Monitor well behaviour, pressures, temperatures, and well test parameters during offshore operations.
• Provide technical guidance during well clean-up, flow periods, pressure build-ups, and associated well testing activities.
• Identify operational risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical or operational issues during well testing activities.
• Coordinate with rig personnel, service companies, well test contractors, and other specialist vendors.
• Ensure effective communication between offshore operations and the onshore well engineering team.
• Contribute to daily reporting, operational documentation, and final well test reporting.
• Capture lessons learned and support post-operation reviews.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a Well Test Engineer or Well Testing Specialist within offshore oil and gas operations.
• Strong, demonstrable experience working on HPHT wells.
• Extensive knowledge of surface and downhole well testing operations.
• Experience planning and executing technically complex offshore well tests.
• Strong understanding of well control, pressure control, and HPHT operational risks.
• Experience reviewing well test programmes, procedures, and equipment configurations.
• Good knowledge of well test equipment, including flowheads, test strings, separators, choke manifolds, and associated pressure-control equipment.
• Experience working closely with drilling, completions, subsea, and well services teams.
• Strong understanding of offshore HSE requirements and operational risk management.
• Previous North Sea experience is highly advantageous.
• Previous experience working in Denmark or the Danish North Sea is beneficial.
• Relevant offshore survival, medical, and well control certification as required for the assignment.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Able to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary well operations team.

Preferred Background

• Previous experience supporting HPHT development wells, offshore well testing campaigns, and complex North Sea well operations is particularly relevant.

The successful engineer must be available to support the onshore planning phase in Denmark prior to the rig arriving in February 2027, followed by mobilisation offshore for the well testing campaign.
