Industrial Hygiene Engineer
Location: Doha, Qatar (Onshore, with possible visits to offshore facilities)Contract Type: 2-year initial contract, with possibility to extend
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Hygiene Engineer to support industrial hygiene and occupational health activities across offshore and onshore operations. The position will focus on workplace exposure assessment, hazardous-substance management, industrial hygiene risk assessments, and implementation of effective exposure-control measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) activities and industrial hygiene risk-management programs.
- Plan and conduct workplace exposure assessments covering chemical, physical, biological and ergonomic hazards.
- Assess hazardous substances and recommend improvements to exposure monitoring and control measures.
- Conduct monitoring and assessment of substances including BTEX, H₂S and other occupational contaminants.
- Perform hazardous-substance surveys across offshore production and storage/offloading facilities.
- Develop, review and update Industrial Hygiene Risk Assessments using qualitative and quantitative monitoring techniques.
- Conduct noise surveys, noise dosimetry and heat-stress/WBGT assessments.
- Perform Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessments for offices and accommodation facilities.
- Conduct vibration risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Develop recommendations using the hierarchy of controls to reduce occupational exposure.
- Deliver industrial hygiene and hazardous-substance awareness campaigns.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching and training to junior/developing Industrial Hygiene personnel.
- Coordinate with Operations, HSE and other internal stakeholders on industrial hygiene matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Engineering degree or Bachelor's degree in a relevant science discipline; Industrial Hygiene certification/qualification is highly relevant.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in the assessment and/or management of industrial hygiene risks.
- Previous Oil & Gas experience strongly preferred.
- Good understanding of offshore operations and applicable industry standards.
- Practical experience with Photoionization Detectors (PID) and/or gas chromatograph monitoring.
- Good understanding of gas-detection techniques, detector limitations and sensor poisoning.
- Familiarity with Class 1 sound-level meters, noise dosimeters and WBGT/heat-stress monitoring equipment.
- Strong technical reporting, organizational and communication skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Must be medically/physically capable of working in offshore and high-temperature environments.
