Field Electrical Engineer
Working Location
This role is based in California, with varied project sites across the west coast and central US. Candidates located in these regions are desirable due to project locations. When not traveling to project sites, the successful candidate will work virtually. Extensive travel within the United States (approximately 50-75%) is required.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an owner's representative, providing field inspections, construction quality assurance, oversight of electrical testing, and commissioning activities at multiple commercial sites.
- Complete checklists, adhere to established processes, and identify code compliance issues and deficiencies.
- Escalate energization blockers and document issues as punch list items.
- Oversee construction, commissioning, and inspection of commercial electric vehicle charging infrastructure and facility power upgrades.
- Actively participate in internal weekly program meetings, review lessons learned, identify efficiencies, and align on upcoming schedules with the team.
- Convey project status through discussions, presentations, and reports to stakeholders.
- Manage assigned site schedules, travel, communications, and project budgets.
- Engage with diverse stakeholder groups while onsite and manage your own time and priorities effectively.
- Inspect and oversee NETA vendor testing and verification for low, medium (480 Volt), and high voltage electrical systems.
- Assess power transformer testing results, including Doble, TTR, and Insulation Resistance.
- Oversee testing of electro-mechanical and solid-state relays.
- Verify cable test results provided by NETA vendors (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
- Identify and document onsite deficiencies as punch list items.
- Ensure compliance with established processes and procedures during onsite activities.
- Monitor and assist with automatic transfer switch troubleshooting.
- Work with low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
- Apply relay calibration and power metering knowledge.
- Attend customer sites promptly as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of field electrical maintenance experience within engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of commercial projects or similar environments.
- Proficiency in identifying onsite deficiencies and energization blockers, recommending resolutions, and identifying root causes.
- Experience working with NETA-qualified testing vendors and ability to assess test result outcomes.
- Proficient with medium voltage infrastructure, including testing and functional operation of relays.
- Strong background in working within small teams and coordinating onsite activities during maintenance or upgrades.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and present findings to public or private entities.
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word; familiarity with Adobe/Bluebeam and Smartsheet.
- Excellent communication skills required.
