Subsea Project Engineer
Location: St John's, CanadaContract Type: Contract Position (Annually Renewable)
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, full-time office-based

Position Overview
The Subsea Project Engineer acts as a key technical interface between the Wells team, subsea base business, ROV contractor, equipment suppliers, production operations, and project management.
This position requires a strong combination of subsea/well intervention knowledge, project engineering, equipment delivery, cost and schedule management, risk management, and offshore execution experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support development of well intervention concepts and execution strategies.
- Coordinate well intervention interfaces with wells, drilling, completions, production, subsea, marine, ROV and HSE disciplines.
- Own and coordinate the project ROV scope, acting as the technical focal point between the project team and base business.
- Ensure ROV activities are fully integrated into the intervention sequence, vessel schedule and overall project execution plan.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication, assembly, inspection, testing, certification and mobilization of subsea intervention equipment.
- Manage technical interfaces between intervention equipment, subsea trees, wellheads, ROVs, vessels, controls systems and other project equipment.
- Participate in design reviews, FAT, SIT, integration testing and equipment acceptance.
- Ensure equipment certification, maintenance, inspection and recertification requirements are identified and completed.
- Maintain equipment readiness status and identify actions required to achieve offshore deployment readiness.
- Support rig integration of subsea IWOCS spread and tree handling equipment, ensuring equipment is fully compatible with the rig and planned intervention operations. Coordinate equipment mobilization, rig-up, installation, function testing, commissioning and operational acceptance.
- Maintain cost forecasts and monitor expenditure against approved project budgets.
- Maintain project risk registers and ensure mitigation actions are implemented and tracked.
- Support management of technical queries, deviations, non-conformances and engineering changes.
- Provide engineering support during offshore intervention and ROV operations.
- Monitor execution against approved procedures, schedule, operational objectives and regulatory commitments.
- Troubleshoot equipment, interface and procedural issues during offshore operations.
- Support well handover and start up back to operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) currently registered (or eligible for immediate registration) with PEGNL.
- 10+ years of experience in subsea, offshore, well intervention, ROV or subsea project engineering.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of offshore drilling rigs, vessels, ROV spreads and subsea well intervention operations.
- Experience managing equipment through design, procurement, fabrication, testing, mobilization and offshore deployment.
- Demonstrated experience with project cost, schedule, risk and change management.
- Experience managing vendors, subcontractors and technical interfaces.
Working Conditions
- Based out of the head office in St. John's, NL, Canada.
- Primarily office-based, with time required at site and/or contractor office locations as needed.
- Potential for offshore travel to support project needs.
- Potential requirement for extended hours based on business needs.
