Senior Cost Controller

Role Purpose

The Senior Cost Controller will support the safe, controlled and efficient delivery of complex energy engineering and construction activities from a Kuala Lumpur base, working across multidisciplinary office, fabrication, marine and field interfaces as required. The role is accountable for reliable execution within its discipline, timely coordination with stakeholders, and maintenance of clear, auditable records.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate cost, commitment, accrual and forecast data across assigned work scopes.
• Support monthly cost reporting, variance analysis, cash-flow visibility and estimate-at-completion updates.
• Reconcile purchase orders, subcontracts, invoices and change records with approved budgets and coding structures.
• Work closely with project controls, procurement, finance and project teams to resolve cost-data discrepancies.
• Lead cost-control activities for major scopes, including forecasting, commitments, accruals, change and management reporting.
• Challenge cost trends, support commercial decisions and coach cost-control personnel.
• Participate in planning, coordination and progress meetings and provide concise status, risk and action updates.
• Apply document control, change management and approval requirements and maintain records suitable for audit and handover.
• Work in accordance with applicable HSE, quality, ethics and compliance requirements, escalating concerns promptly.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or diploma in finance, accounting, quantity surveying, business or a related discipline, with relevant cost-control or project-finance experience.
• Typically 8+ years of relevant experience, including leadership of complex interfaces or work scopes.
• Experience in offshore energy, EPC/EPCIC, transportation and installation, fabrication or marine construction environments is strongly preferred where relevant to the role.
• Strong written and spoken English; ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment.

Additional Requirements

• Based in Kuala Lumpur with flexibility to travel to yards, ports, vessels, offshore locations or supplier premises when the assignment requires.
• Able to work to project deadlines and, where operationally necessary, support extended hours, mobilisation windows or offshore rotations.
• Any offshore medical, safety training, professional certification or competency requirement will depend on the final work scope and mobilisation location.
