Safety Officer
Location: Dukhan, Qatar
Contract Type: Long-term contract until October 2029
Overview
A major energy operator is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to support health and safety activities across large-scale oil and gas infrastructure and construction projects. The role focuses on ensuring full compliance with HSE standards, policies, and regulatory requirements throughout all project phases.
The Role
You will provide technical HSE support, monitor contractor performance, and ensure all site activities are executed safely and in line with approved procedures and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide HSE support during design, construction, and execution phases of major projects
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor contractor and workforce adherence to safety standards and systems
- Conduct daily site inspections and ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems
- Review method statements, job safety analyses, and safety documentation
- Identify risks and support implementation of mitigation measures across project phases
- Support implementation of HSE performance monitoring, objectives, and initiatives
- Monitor compliance with legal and regulatory HSE requirements
- Maintain and update project HSE risk registers and support risk close-out activities
- Review contractor HSE plans, procedures, and personnel competency
- Conduct incident investigations and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented
- Lead safety meetings, audits, and awareness programs
- Prepare HSE reports, statistics, and trend analysis
- Support development and updates of HSE standards and procedures
Requirements
- HNC or equivalent in Engineering or related discipline
- Membership of a recognised safety institution preferred
- Minimum 12 years of experience in operational safety within oil and gas or petrochemical projects
- Strong experience in infrastructure and construction environments
- Good knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and procedures
- Proficiency in MS Office and reporting tools
- Experience working in the Arabian Gulf is preferred
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
