PROJECT CONTEXT
This role supports the successful delivery of a major industrial construction project, ensuring all mechanical, structural, and associated electrical installation works are inspected, documented, and handed over in compliance with project specifications, client requirements, applicable codes, and quality standards.
ROLE PURPOSE
To perform quality assurance and quality control inspections across construction activities, verify installation compliance, prepare and maintain Quality Books and turnover documentation, and ensure all systems, machines, and equipment are inspected, documented, and accepted in accordance with project and client requirements.
The QA/QC Inspector will be responsible for conducting internal inspections prior to client and third-party inspections, ensuring all quality documentation is complete, accurate, and ready for final handover.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Review construction works to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, procedures, standards, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Conduct routine site inspections and surveillance of mechanical, structural, and associated electrical installation activities.
- Verify workmanship, installation quality, and compliance prior to client and third-party inspections.
- Identify non-conformances and support corrective and preventive action implementation.
- Participate in quality audits and quality reviews as required.
Quality Documentation Management
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive Quality Books organized by systems, machines, and equipment.
- Compile turnover dossiers and final handover documentation packages.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of construction quality records.
- Manage document traceability and ensure records are maintained in accordance with project requirements.
- Coordinate collection and review of contractor quality documents.
Mechanical & Structural Inspection
- Verify alignment and dimensional inspections of installed equipment and structures.
- Review and validate alignment certificates, dimensional reports, and installation records.
- Inspect structural steel installations and bolted connections.
- Verify bolt torque tightening records and installation compliance.
- Review welding documentation, inspection reports, and material traceability records.
- Confirm preservation and protection measures have been correctly implemented.
Painting & Coating Inspection
- Inspect surface preparation, painting, and coating applications.
- Verify compliance with project specifications and manufacturer recommendations.
- Review painting and coating inspection reports and certificates.
- Witness and document coating inspections where required.
- Support resolution of coating and touch-up quality issues raised by the client.
Electrical Quality Support
- Review electrical installation quality documentation where applicable.
- Verify electrical inspection and testing records.
- Support preparation of electrical turnover dossiers and quality records.
- Coordinate with electrical supervisors and inspectors to ensure documentation completeness.
Inspection Readiness & Client Interface
- Conduct pre-inspection checks to ensure systems are ready for client and third-party inspection.
- Prepare inspection requests and supporting documentation.
- Participate in client inspections, witnessing activities, and quality meetings.
- Support resolution of punch list items and quality observations.
- Facilitate timely closure of inspection comments and deficiencies.
Handover & Completion
- Support Mechanical Completion and Turnover processes.
- Verify completeness of quality records prior to handover.
- Assist commissioning and project teams with documentation requirements.
- Ensure final quality packages are compiled and approved in line with project milestones.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform daily site quality inspections across mechanical, structural, and associated electrical works.
- Review completed installation activities against approved drawings and specifications.
- Verify alignment, dimensional, torque tightening, and installation records.
- Monitor construction activities and identify quality deviations.
- Maintain inspection reports and quality tracking registers.
- Prepare and update Quality Books and turnover dossiers.
- Attend daily coordination meetings with construction, commissioning, and quality teams.
- Witness inspections, testing activities, and contractor quality checks.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to obtain quality records and certificates.
- Track punch list items and support their closure.
- Communicate inspection results and quality concerns to project management.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Experience
- Minimum 5-10 years of QA/QC experience on industrial construction projects.
- Proven experience preparing Quality Books and turnover documentation packages.
- Strong background in mechanical and structural construction inspections.
- Experience working on large-scale industrial, steel, energy, mining, manufacturing, or process plant projects.
- Previous exposure to electrical QA/QC documentation and inspection activities is highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of inspection and testing requirements for mechanical and structural installations.
- Knowledge of dimensional inspections, equipment alignment, bolting, torque verification, and installation quality control.
- Familiarity with welding documentation, material traceability, and inspection records.
- Understanding of turnover, completion, and handover processes.
Painting & Coating Expertise
- Experience inspecting coating and painting activities.
- Knowledge of surface preparation, coating application, and quality requirements.
- FROSIO, NACE, AMPP, or equivalent coating inspection certification considered a strong advantage.
Quality Systems & Documentation
- Excellent understanding of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality procedures, and turnover systems.
- Experience managing large volumes of quality documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and record management skills.
- Familiarity with electronic document management systems and construction databases.
Communication & Coordination
- Ability to work effectively with construction teams, subcontractors, clients, and third-party inspectors.
- Strong reporting and documentation capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
- Technical Diploma, HNC/HND, Trade Qualification, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Certified QA/QC Inspector qualifications preferred.
- FROSIO, NACE, AMPP, or equivalent Coating Inspection Certification advantageous.
- CSWIP, PCN, or equivalent welding inspection qualifications desirable.
- ISO 9001 Quality Management System knowledge preferred.
- Valid site safety training and industrial construction certifications.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
- Professional level English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to prepare reports, quality documentation, and communicate effectively with international project teams.
