Project Engineering Lead
Location: Doha, QatarContract Type: Contract
Job Purpose
Enable the timely delivery of the Barzan Restoration Project (BRP), including damage assessment, demolition, engineering, procurement, construction, and contractor execution. Ensure alignment with project management systems and risk management processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage key multi-discipline activities within the project management team to direct the contractor in executing various packages and systems to meet milestones and stay within budget.
- Develop execution plans for engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
- Support the damage assessment process and vendor/OEM engagement to ensure inspections of equipment and fit-for-service requirements are met.
- Assist in managing the development, implementation, update, and compliance of internal governance processes required for the BRP, including contractor execution.
- Assist in the development of the EPC scope and ITT for the restoration/rebuild phase of the Barzan onshore plant.
- Lead and coordinate key engineering activities among different project actors to execute damage assessment, demolition, and associated detailed design engineering deliverables.
- Ensure effective coordination and execution of project activities, monitoring progress and interfaces to achieve project objectives in accordance with approved schedules and requirements.
- Conduct risk-based evaluation of complex technical issues with significant commercial impacts and manage the timely delivery of technical deliverables and issue resolution.
- Verify compliance with requirements, standards, specifications, and instructions.
- Oversee effective change management processes, scope optimization, defense against scope creep, and manage risks associated with design changes.
- Contribute to the development of local national employees.
- Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with safety, health, environment, and quality policies, regulations, and standards.
- Ensure all activities comply with anti-trust and competition laws and firewall policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in engineering roles, including 4 years in the oil & gas industry and at least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight role of contractor/sub-contractor/service/vendor personnel.
- Experience with integrated LNG development involving multiple EPCs.
- Experience with risk assessment approaches to decision making.
- Experience with upstream sour service gas and LNG facilities.
- Experience with large utilities system design.
- Experience working with major EPC contractors in a lump sum environment.
- Technical background as a discipline engineer and experience as a project engineer or field engineer.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good analytical skills.
- Risk management experience.
