The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity for a Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) Engineer to join a major data centre project in Sweden. This role offers the chance to play a key part in coordinating construction activities, monitoring quality, and supporting the successful delivery of CSA works on a large-scale, fast-paced project.
You will work closely with project, engineering, quality, and construction teams, taking responsibility for monitoring works on site, coordinating subcontractors, resolving issues, and ensuring delivery in line with approved drawings, specifications, programme, and quality requirements. This position is ideal for an engineer with a strong construction background who enjoys site-based work and is looking to develop experience in the rapidly growing European data centre sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor CSA works on site to ensure construction is progressing according to approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Carry out regular inspections of completed and ongoing works, maintaining required quality standards.
- Work closely with the QA/QC team to achieve quality requirements and project benchmarks.
- Coordinate with QA/QC management to ensure timely completion and submission of quality documentation by subcontractors.
- Liaise with subcontractors to monitor progress against the project programme and coordinate regular progress meetings.
- Monitor subcontractor activities, manpower, resources, and progress against schedule.
- Review drawings and technical information with the design team and assist in resolving design or technical issues on site.
- Identify, record, and manage defects and quality issues, raising them through the approved project quality management system.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure snags and defects are closed out within required timeframes.
- Ensure completed works are protected and subcontractors maintain appropriate standards of housekeeping and material storage.
- Coordinate CSA activities with other trades to ensure sufficient time, materials, and resources are available to maintain programme.
- Participate in site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings, lookahead meetings, and handover meetings.
- Maintain accurate site documentation and keep relevant records up to date.
- Support the project team with construction planning, coordination, and sequencing of works.
- Monitor site activities to ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and RAMS.
- Support the management of health and safety across the site, including participation in daily SPA, permit, DAB, and Whiteboard processes.
- Raise observations and report any issues relating to quality, safety, housekeeping, materials, or construction activities.
- Assist with the successful handover and close-out of the CSA works.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' experience working on large-scale construction projects.
- Experience across Civil, Structural, Architectural, façade, or fit-out works.
- Strong understanding of construction quality control and site inspection processes.
- Experience working directly with subcontractors and construction delivery teams.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to monitor multiple activities and priorities on a live construction site.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned areas of responsibility.
- Previous data centre or other mission-critical project experience is highly advantageous.
- Strong awareness of health, safety, and quality requirements within a construction environment.
