Project Director

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (on-site, residential) Contract Type: Fixed term agreement, annually renewable

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor project teams, providing guidance, motivation, and direction to ensure efficient project execution and adherence to timelines.
  • Oversee and monitor contractors and sub-contractors' activities to ensure successful completion of delivery as per contract requirements, specifications, and timelines.
  • Oversee day-to-day on-site construction operations and advise on technical, logistical, and administrative issues to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Lead periodic meetings with contractors' planning teams to ensure successful completion of delivery and synergy with other assets of the program.
  • Develop and execute project plans aligned with client objectives, ensuring clarity in project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain rigorous quality standards, oversee the implementation of best practices, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and procurement processes to optimize project efficiency while controlling costs.
  • Identify potential risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure project success.
  • Manage Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) programs in coordination with the client to ensure worker safety and compliance with HSE construction requirements.
  • Develop weekly and monthly progress reports, including analysis of progress, explanation of delay causes, analysis of KPIs, and assessment of quality issues to provide a clear view of the project's progress.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field preferred; membership of a chartered institution.
  • Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or related certification preferred.
  • Over 20 years of total experience, primarily as a consultant in Project Director/Manager roles. Candidates with exclusive contractor experience will not be considered.
  • Experience in at least one or more major road projects is required. Candidates without clear road project experience will not be considered.
  • Advanced level of English; basic knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  • Strong report writing, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, autonomy, flexibility, and technical rigor.
  • Willingness to work in a multinational environment.
  • Transferable Iqama required for non-Saudi candidates.
  • Based in Riyadh.
  • Valid SCE membership.
