Project Controls Engineer (Onshore - Rotational)

Working Location: Afungi, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique

Client: Global energy operator

Assignment Type: Rotational contract

Contract Length & Type: Annually renewable contract (rotational - 4x4 weeks)

Missions / Service Dimensions

This role is within the onshore project services team and reports to the Onshore Project Service Manager. The position is based on site in Afungi and is rotational. The role requires close interface with all functions in the onshore team, as well as with upstream and home office functions.

Key Activities

  • Provide broad project controls co-ordination and support in relation to reporting of project progress status, cost opportunities and threats, and change management.
  • Co-ordinate change management processes in relation to site construction activity.
  • Co-ordinate risk management processes.
  • Verify EPC contractor construction progress, invoicing and reporting deliverables related to project controls.
  • Provide assistance to the onshore site planning teams to co-ordinate schedule interfaces associated with construction engineering, procurement and fabrication activities.
  • Support the project cost function in developing and maintaining accurate cost forecasts.
  • Support preparation of presentation and reporting materials relevant to site and project activities.
  • Provide general support to onshore project services and site management.

Context and Environment

The role is based at Afungi Site, which is an extremely remote area in Northern Mozambique with unreliable infrastructure and communications. The site is subject to mitigation measures related to malaria and general security risks.

Accountabilities

Provide project control support including tools, reports and deliverables consistently and accurately for site construction management (N+1, N+2). Offer general support to the onshore project management team and the overall project controls team.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Education: Degree in Engineering, Business Management or a similar discipline.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in major oil and gas projects within project controls functions.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in major oil and gas project developments, including partner and government reporting interfaces.
  • Excellent organizational ability and a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Effective communication and proficient presentation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with cost engineering principles, schedule and planning principles and methods.
