CSA Supervisor - Underground Piping and Earthworks
Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract
Location: Northern Sweden
Work Pattern: 3 weeks on office/site, 1 week remote, on rotation. Working 5 days per week - 8 hour days.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Supervisor with a strong focus on underground piping and earthworks, alongside broader civil construction, steel structure erection, and architectural activities. In this role, you will be responsible for managing civil construction for the project in collaboration with the client, who will lead coordination with civil contractors.
The ideal candidate is a civil engineer with demonstrable, hands-on experience in underground piping systems and earthworks on major projects, combined with a strong background in wider civil construction delivery.
You will report to the CSA Superintendent Leader and collaborate with the client and cross-functional teams to address construction and contractual issues (performance, infringement, rights and obligations, risk and mitigations).

Key Responsibilities
- Supervision of underground piping installation and earthworks activities, ensuring works are executed in accordance with engineering designs, project specifications, and schedules.
- Assist the client construction team in all civil construction tasks, coordinating actions under the responsibility of the project management consultancy team (quality control, progress monitoring, financial control, risk and opportunity control, and reporting).
- Work in coordination with CSA Supervisors to ensure contractors carry out civil construction tasks, with particular attention to excavation, backfill, compaction, and underground piping scopes, in a timely manner and consistent with work contract terms.
- Support technical control of civil construction activities including earthworks, underground piping, piling, civil works, steel structure, and architectural activities, in accordance with engineering design.
- Ensure compliance with policies, strategies, and procedures for the execution of project supplies.
- Promote and maintain technical and administrative relationships with the client and its contractors to understand and resolve issues arising from project execution.
- Ensure all CSA activities across contractors are carried out in accordance with contract procedures, management plans, inspections, and design documents.
- Oversee quality control and compliance, verifying that construction activities, particularly underground piping and earthworks, comply with project technical specifications and regulations.
- Manage technical documentation including management plans, certificates, inspection records, and design documents for all contractors.
- Maintain constant contact with contractors to resolve delays, quality issues, or changes in requirements.
- Report on supply status and potential delay risks, proposing corrective actions where deviations arise.
- Collaborate with the scheduling team to measure progress and plan upcoming construction activities.
- Identify project risks early and develop treatment plans, reporting promptly to the Contract Manager, Project Management, and relevant steering committees.
- Issue and sign formal communications relating to project construction execution.
- Perform other duties inherent to the position and/or designated by the CSA Superintendent Leader and/or the client.
Requirements and Skills
- Degree in Engineering (Civil or equivalent).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in civil construction within Oil and Gas, Engineering and Construction, Steel, Mining, and/or Infrastructure sectors.
- Demonstrable, focused experience in underground piping and earthworks on major industrial or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of excavation, trenching, bedding, pipe laying, backfill, and compaction processes and QA/QC requirements.
- Experience managing civil contracts and/or working within project management consultancy or engineering, procurement, and construction management service teams.
- Quality Assurance and Quality Control experience, specifically across underground and civil scopes.
- Risk and mitigation planning experience.
- Ability to collaborate with civil supervisors, anticipating and defining project needs in advance.
- Commercial understanding of civil construction contracts.
- Experience on technically complex, large-scale projects.
- Willingness to commute to Northern Sweden for 3 weeks per month.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Primavera and/or document control platforms.
- Fluent English.
