Job Summary
The Construction Superintendent will provide technical and construction leadership for a major Oil & Gas project, coordinating and supervising contractor activities across multiple work fronts. The role is responsible for ensuring construction activities are executed safely and efficiently in accordance with approved construction sequences, project specifications, quality requirements, schedules, and HSE standards. The successful candidate will work closely with project, engineering, construction, quality, project controls, systems completion, operations/interface teams, EPC contractors, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise EPC contractor and subcontractor construction activities at site.
- Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, worker welfare, project specifications, and construction requirements.
- Manage work fronts and ensure activities follow approved construction plans, sequences, and schedules.
- Support Permit to Work (PTW) activities and ensure task-specific risks and mitigation measures are properly addressed.
- Review and support construction methodologies, work packs, site procedures, material requirements, crew sizing, and resource planning.
- Participate in construction risk assessments and constructability reviews.
- Monitor construction progress, manpower deployment, productivity, milestones, and project deliverables.
- Review contractor daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and verify actual progress/status.
- Coordinate site material handling, laydown areas, and equipment inspections to support construction progress.
- Support mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, job walks, punch-list clearance, and project handover.
- Maintain effective coordination and communication between contractors, operations/interface teams, and other project stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma with relevant discipline/trade-specific vocational certification.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in large Oil & Gas construction projects.
- Experience should cover relevant construction disciplines such as:
- Construction and site execution
- Installation
- Fabrication
- Completion
- Hook-up and related activities
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience, including acting supervisory positions or oversight of service/vendor personnel.
- Strong understanding of construction safety, Permit to Work requirements, risk mitigation, and safe work-front management.
- Experience coordinating EPC contractors and subcontractors in a major-project environment.
