Overview
An opportunity for a Chemical and Laboratory Engineer to oversee chemical operations and laboratory activities within an onshore oil & gas facility. The role focuses on ensuring accurate analysis, optimising chemical treatment programmes, and maintaining efficient, compliant laboratory operations to support production performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems, regulatory requirements, and company safety standards
- Act as focal point for Management of Change (MoC) related to chemical usage and treatment processes
- Manage daily laboratory operations, ensuring safety, reliability, and accuracy of results
- Validate and interpret laboratory data, providing timely technical reports and trend analysis
- Define and optimise chemical injection rates, including low-flow dosing, in coordination with operations teams
- Prepare technical evaluations and testing for new chemicals, including performance and compatibility assessments
- Identify and assess new chemical solutions and suppliers to enhance treatment programmes
- Manage chemical inventory, monitor stock levels, and support procurement decisions
- Control laboratory operational costs including consumables, chemicals, and external services
- Ensure maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and production chemistry documentation
- Collaborate with production, field engineering, and HSE teams to support safe and efficient operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in chemical engineering within the oil & gas sector
- Strong knowledge of chemical injection systems and associated equipment
- Experience in laboratory supervision and testing techniques is advantageous
