Job Title: Technician - Mechanical Maintenance
Working Location: Dubai
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently repair and maintain a wide range of mechanical equipment and systems in a power plant setting.
- Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance repairs independently or as directed, including "on call" duties when required, to restore mechanical systems quickly and minimize downtime.
- Assist Technician Engineers or independently handle allocated jobs with a clear understanding of relevant methods, procedures, and associated risks. Select and use the required tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Conduct maintenance work in full compliance with EHS standards and plant operating requirements to minimize workplace accidents and incidents.
- Monitor repeated breakdowns, suggest, and implement solutions to avoid recurrence of similar issues.
- Direct contract workforce in carrying out maintenance repairs and services as per agreed plans.
- Be prepared for significant exposure to various challenging physical and sensory conditions (including high-pressure steam, high voltage, arc flash, high magnetic fields, loud noise, fumes, hot and humid environments, dust, heights, hazardous chemicals, acids, mineral oils, and liquids), making safety a top priority.
- Accept direction from supervisors in verbal or written form.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Craft/Trade certificate or equivalent qualification.
Minimum Experience:
- Diploma holders: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position within a thermal power plant.
- Craft/Trade certificate holders: Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with GE Frame 9E/9FA Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Waste Heat Boilers, thermal desalination, and other Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment overhauls.
Skills:
- Familiarity with all mechanical maintenance tools.
- Computer literacy (knowledge of PCs is essential).
- Conversant in Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Waste Heat Boilers, Compressors, Pumps, Cooling Towers, and Reverse Osmosis Plant.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English to a good standard.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and assertiveness.
- Strong teamwork abilities, including willingness to work shifts.
- Self-motivated and dedicated.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
