Job Title: Senior Engineer - Mechanical (Decommissioning)
We are assisting a key industry leader in their search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong focus on decommissioning. The successful candidate will drive best practices across the company's operated and non-operated assets, ensuring compliance with decommissioning guidelines and contributing to the successful execution of asset decommissioning objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the application of policies, standards, procedures, manuals, and guidelines related to asset decommissioning across all assets.
- Regularly update and improve the Decommissioning Guideline based on industry developments and internal feedback.
- Organise workshops to disseminate best practices, share updates on decommissioning trends, and assess innovations in the field.
- Collect and incorporate feedback from assets and management teams to refine technical and reporting requirements in the Decommissioning Guideline.
- Monitor and review decommissioning reporting, addressing gaps and providing feedback on adherence to guidelines and cost implications.
- Review derogation requests, ensuring justifications and conducting comparative assessments.
- Lead the decommissioning closeout assurance process, supported by the assurance review committee.
- Provide decommissioning guidance for integration into business planning and budgeting activities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Develop a comprehensive decommissioning perspective across the asset portfolio, ensuring leadership clarity on decommissioning requirements.
- Identify best practices and create benchmarks from approved plans to enhance cross-asset decommissioning effectiveness.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in decommissioning or related fields within the energy sector.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- In-depth understanding of decommissioning standards and best practices in the oil and gas industry.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices for asset decommissioning.
- Proficiency in data analysis and decommissioning benchmarking.
- Proven experience in supporting annual business reporting and aligning inputs with guidelines.
- Strong stakeholder engagement experience and the ability to analyse feedback to align decommissioning activities with company goals.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills to manage multiple workstreams effectively.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to implement strategic improvements in decommissioning methods.
