Lead CCUS Engineer - Permanent Expat Opportunity - Middle East
A global operator in the energy sector is seeking an experienced Lead CCUS Engineer to join its team in the Middle East. This permanent expatriate role offers a tax-free salary and a comprehensive benefits package for individuals or families interested in a long-term overseas assignment.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with operations teams to understand their technical needs and deliver engineering designs aligned with those requirements

Analyze existing systems to identify opportunities for enhancement, address current challenges, and support continuous improvement initiatives

Lead capital and operational improvement programs focused on performance optimisation, revenue growth, and operational excellence

Guide the development of internal engineering standards and best practices for carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects

Create conceptual designs for new project proposals and review engineering packages and calculations provided by external contractors

Present technical findings to international expert audiences and contribute to the field through technical publications

Conduct simulation studies using industry-recognised process modelling tools, evaluate model accuracy for both new and existing installations

Provide mentorship to early-career engineers and deliver internal training sessions to promote technical knowledge sharing

Work autonomously while fostering a collaborative and constructive team environment

Serve as a technical advisor, offering timely support and expert recommendations to internal stakeholders
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering; a postgraduate degree is an asset

Minimum of 20 years of experience in the CCS sector, including hands-on involvement in CO₂ storage initiatives and a deep understanding of geological and engineering aspects

Proficient in various CCS stages and technologies, including CO₂ capture methods (chemical absorption, physical separation), transport logistics, storage options, and utilisation pathways

In-depth understanding of cost structures across the CCS value chain

Knowledge of global regulatory and policy frameworks that support CCS project development

Familiarity with carbon market mechanisms such as carbon taxes, cap-and-trade systems, and emissions pricing

Ability to operate effectively in diverse, multicultural work environments
