Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a large downstream infrastructure team. This role plays a key part in supporting power and water facilities by driving performance improvement, enhancing operational reliability, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The successful candidate will contribute to strategic development by analysing asset performance, recommending cost-effective improvements, and supporting governance and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the actual performance of electrical systems and ensure alignment with design targets and operating philosophies
  • Identify gaps between expected and actual performance and propose technical improvements
  • Coordinate with plant operators to ensure safe and compliant operation of electrical systems
  • Provide technical evaluations on plant performance, including availability, operability, maintainability, and reliability
  • Support new plant design processes by ensuring learnings from operational assets are incorporated
  • Lead efforts to identify cost reduction opportunities through improved engineering and operational synergies
  • Conduct preliminary technical and economic assessments of improvement proposals
  • Evaluate annual work plans and budgets submitted by asset operators to ensure alignment with corporate strategy
  • Analyse financial data against activity planning to identify and recommend optimisation opportunities
  • Verify greenhouse gas reporting and ensure compliance with environmental procedures
  • Support knowledge transfer and mentoring programmes for junior engineers, especially nationals

     

Experience & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in power generation or water desalination plants, preferably in the oil & gas or energy sector
  • Proven track record in asset performance analysis, operational strategy, and technical reporting
  • Experience working with joint ventures or complex stakeholder environments is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance procedures
  • Fluent in English; excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to strategic planning
