Role Summary

This role is responsible for executing the procurement and expediting functions within large-scale engineering and construction projects in the energy sector. The Senior Procurement & Expediting Engineer ensures timely sourcing, contract execution, and supplier performance tracking to maintain critical timelines, quality standards, and cost objectives throughout the procurement lifecycle.

 

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Award Responsibilities

  • Execute sourcing strategies to meet project timelines, quality, and budget goals.
  • Collaborate with project teams and engineering leads to capture procurement needs and specifications.
  • Conduct supplier market research, prequalification, and evaluations.
  • Lead commercial negotiations to secure favorable pricing, terms, and delivery commitments.
  • Manage purchase order issuance and ensure the full procure-to-pay process is aligned with project controls.
  • Identify and report supplier risks or performance concerns, escalating as needed.
  • Mentor junior supply chain professionals on procurement best practices.
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and audit requirements across all transactions.

Post-Award Responsibilities

  • Drive all expediting activities from purchase order issuance to on-site delivery.
  • Track vendor schedules, monitor key milestones, and escalate anticipated delivery delays.
  • Organize supplier kick-off meetings, aligning deliverables and timelines.
  • Coordinate across engineering, logistics, and construction teams to manage delivery schedules.
  • Resolve delivery conflicts and supplier deviations efficiently.
  • Maintain supplier engagement and accountability for agreed terms.
  • Deliver expediting status updates and reporting to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support procurement in negotiations for improved lead times and performance terms.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy and completeness across all expediting activities.

     

Knowledge & Technical Expertise

  • Comprehensive knowledge of procurement and expediting in EPC Oil & Gas project environments.
  • ERP systems proficiency, particularly SAP or equivalent platforms.
  • Competency in supplier cost analysis, proposal reviews, and scheduling impacts.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills across global supply chains.
  • Experience managing commercial terms, international shipping, and contractual obligations.

Required Experience

  • 8+ years of professional experience in supply chain or procurement roles.
  • Minimum 5 years within EPC Oil & Gas environments.
  • GCC project experience (2 years preferred).

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Commerce, or related field (Preferred).
  • Professional Supply Chain qualification (e.g., CIPS) is an asset.
