JOB BRIEF
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join a major industrial megaproject in Sweden. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, monitoring, and controlling integrated project schedules across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
This role requires a planning professional with a minimum of 15 years of project controls and planning experience, strong expertise in Primavera P6, and a proven track record working on large-scale EPC, EPCM, PMC, or industrial construction projects within sectors such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Steel, Mining, Infrastructure, or Heavy Industrial developments.
The Senior Planning Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Contractors, and Client stakeholders to ensure project schedules are realistic, achievable, and aligned with project objectives. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills and thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural project environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, maintain, and manage detailed integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
Prepare and update Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor project progress against approved baselines and identify schedule variances and potential delays.
Produce and present regular schedule reports, dashboards, progress updates, and recovery plans to project management and client stakeholders.
Analyze project performance using critical path analysis, earned value techniques, and schedule risk assessments.
Review contractor schedules and verify the accuracy of progress reporting and schedule performance.
Participate in planning and coordination meetings with project teams, contractors, and client representatives.
Identify schedule risks and opportunities and develop mitigation and recovery strategies where necessary.
Support project controls activities including forecasting, performance measurement, trend analysis, and change management.
Coordinate interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning disciplines to ensure schedule integration.
Ensure compliance with client procedures, project controls standards, and planning methodologies.
Assist in the preparation and evaluation of claims, extensions of time, and schedule impact assessments.
Develop resource-loaded schedules and support workforce and productivity planning activities.
Contribute to project reporting requirements and management presentations.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the planning and project controls function.
Perform any additional duties assigned by Project Management related to planning, scheduling, and project controls.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
Minimum 15 years of Planning and Scheduling experience on major EPC, EPCM, PMC, or Construction projects.
Extensive experience working within the Oil & Gas, Energy, Steel, Mining, Infrastructure, Industrial, or Heavy Construction sectors.
Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (essential).
Proven experience developing and managing large-scale integrated project schedules.
Strong understanding of project controls principles, scheduling methodologies, and critical path analysis.
Experience preparing baseline schedules, progress measurement systems, and schedule recovery plans.
Experience supporting project reporting, forecasting, and performance management processes.
Strong knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning project phases.
Experience reviewing contractor schedules and assessing schedule impacts and delays.
Familiarity with schedule risk analysis and mitigation planning.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
