Job Description

Role Objective
The Senior Offshore HSE Advisor promotes and provides professional expert knowledge and guidance to managers, supervisors, employees, and contractors on safe work practices, safety standards, and legal regulations. This role supports the identification and elimination of potential hazards and ensures control measures are in place.

Typical tasks include:

- Drive and promote a proactive HSE culture through leading by example, cultural engagement, using data, raising awareness, sharing knowledge, and embedding lessons learned.
- Demonstrate and promote data-driven risk management through proactive reporting and high-quality data management.
- Support ongoing development, implementation, and use of HSE systems, procedures, instructions, and documentation.
- Manage HSE Management system and QHSE process landscape.
- Support emergency response and crisis management plans.
- Participate in audits and compliance checks (ISO 9001/14001/45001/55001).
- Plan, facilitate, and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, briefings, safety walks, inspections, HAZID/HAZOP workshops, and employer culture programs.
- Review HSE documentation, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS).
- Monitor and assess internal/external HSE compliance and performance using incident reporting tools for reporting and trend analysis.
- Coordinate and report safety inspections, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and communicate observations, risks, and lessons learned.
- Liaise with contractors at management and site levels to establish and improve safety, health, and environmental culture.
- Participate and contribute to site HSE meetings and audits.
- Follow up on findings from HSE-related audits, inspections, incident investigations, and support implementation of NCRs.
- Report LTIs to HSE organization in accordance with processes.
- Provide ad hoc advice on HSE matters to management, technicians, and other internal/external parties.
- Ensure the validity of own safety/training certificates as required.
- Be proactive in maintaining personal competence levels for the role.

Deliverables

- Facilitation of regular HSE meetings with contractor and package representatives.
- Review of Risk Assessed Method Statements (RAMS).
- Operational HSE assessment.
- HSE induction for client representatives.
- HSE presentations at kick-off meetings.
- HSE walk reports.
- Entry of incidents and proactive measures into reporting systems.
- Other deliverables as per project (Q)HSE risk management processes and QHSE management framework.

Decision Authority
The QHSE function is not the exclusive owner of HSE and therefore does not hold the authority to determine HSE performance independently. However, an HSE Advisor is a subject matter expert and can contribute to decision-making based on a personal level of understanding of the business and interdependencies with other departments.

Requirements

- English language skills.
- Relevant academic or technical background.
- Minimum 3-5 years' work experience with HSE, ideally from onshore renewables or offshore windfarm construction.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- IT literate (Microsoft Office package; knowledge of Synergi is an advantage).
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and incident investigation.
- Demonstrable experience in dealing with third-party contractors in relation to HSE.
- Completed NEBOSH (minimum level 3) or similar recognized HSE qualification.
- Valid site safety passport (CCNSG or CSCS).
- Current clean UK driver's license.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience

- QHSE BSC, diploma or equivalent level 6 qualification.
- NEBOSH or IEMA Environmental Management qualifications.
- Qualified/certified auditor.
- Experience in delivering training courses/material.
- Prior experience in similar organizations or projects.
- GWO qualifications, medical and fitness for work certifications for offshore access.
