Lead Polyolefins Engineer - Permanent Expat Opportunity - Middle East
A major operator in the energy and chemicals sector is seeking a highly experienced Lead Polyolefins Engineer to join its downstream team in the Middle East. This permanent expatriate opportunity offers excellent long-term prospects and the chance to contribute to world-scale operations in a dynamic and diverse working environment.
Initial interviews will be conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams in June and July.
Responsibilities

Drive the improvement of operational and design standards within polyolefins production

Stay up to date with emerging polyolefin technologies and support ongoing R and D activities

Contribute to the technical and commercial evaluation of future polyolefin projects

Provide practical troubleshooting and develop technical solutions that optimise safety, efficiency, and product quality

Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across global engineering teams

Evaluate and compare polymer product outputs from different technologies and production methods

Mentor junior engineers and technical staff to support team development and succession planning
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a closely related field is required

Master’s degree is advantageous

Over 20 years of experience in the petrochemical industry, including a minimum of 7 years in polyolefin technologies and operations

Strong technical expertise across HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, and polypropylene processes

Hands-on experience with major production technologies including gas phase and slurry phase polymerisation

Familiarity with leading polyolefin licensors is considered beneficial

Demonstrated ability to work across technical functions such as engineering, operations, and R and D

Willingness to travel internationally based on business needs

Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
