Lead Polyolefins Engineer - Permanent Expat Opportunity - Middle East

A major operator in the energy and chemicals sector is seeking a highly experienced Lead Polyolefins Engineer to join its downstream team in the Middle East. This permanent expatriate opportunity offers excellent long-term prospects and the chance to contribute to world-scale operations in a dynamic and diverse working environment.

Initial interviews will be conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams in June and July.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the improvement of operational and design standards within polyolefins production

  • Stay up to date with emerging polyolefin technologies and support ongoing R and D activities

  • Contribute to the technical and commercial evaluation of future polyolefin projects

  • Provide practical troubleshooting and develop technical solutions that optimise safety, efficiency, and product quality

  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across global engineering teams

  • Evaluate and compare polymer product outputs from different technologies and production methods

  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff to support team development and succession planning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a closely related field is required

  • Master’s degree is advantageous

  • Over 20 years of experience in the petrochemical industry, including a minimum of 7 years in polyolefin technologies and operations

  • Strong technical expertise across HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, and polypropylene processes

  • Hands-on experience with major production technologies including gas phase and slurry phase polymerisation

  • Familiarity with leading polyolefin licensors is considered beneficial

  • Demonstrated ability to work across technical functions such as engineering, operations, and R and D

  • Willingness to travel internationally based on business needs

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
