HSE / Safety Supervisor

JOB TITLE: HSE / SAFETY SUPERVISOR (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY)

ASSIGNMENT TYPE: SHORT-TERM CONTRACT (APPROX. 3 MONTHS)

WORKING LOCATION: SOUTH SWEDEN (SITE-BASED)

START DATE: EARLY JUNE (ASAP)

DURATION: UNTIL END OF AUGUST

PROJECT CONTEXT
A leading EPC contractor is delivering construction works for a major steel production facility in Northern Europe. They are seeking a Safety Supervisor to join the site team and support the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards throughout the execution phase.

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Safety Supervisor will work closely with the existing HSE Manager on site, supporting control and supervision activities related to occupational health and safety. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring that all contractors and subcontractors operate in full compliance with project HSE requirements, local regulations, and industry best practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verify compliance of contractors and subcontractors with approved safety plans
- Carry out HSE audits and site inspections
- Monitor site safety conditions and proactively identify risks or non-compliances
- Participate in and support Toolbox Talks / Safety Meetings with site teams
- Report safety performance, observations, and non-conformities to site management
- Prepare reports on all inspection, verification, and supervision activities
- Collaborate with site leadership to ensure a safe working environment
- Escalate safety concerns and critical issues appropriately
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to HSE performance

HSE & COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Ensure full compliance with:
o Project HSE plans
o Local health and safety regulations
o Client and contractor standards
- Support enforcement of safe working practices across site
- Contribute to maintaining a strong safety culture

WORK SCHEDULE
- Monday to Friday: 9 hours per day
- Saturday: Approximately 08:00 - 13:00

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Several years of experience as a Safety Supervisor / HSE Supervisor on:
o Industrial construction sites
o EPC or heavy industrial projects
- Strong knowledge of:
o Occupational health and safety regulations
o HSE auditing and inspection practices
o Construction site safety management
- Proven ability to:
o Work within multi-contractor environments
o Monitor and enforce compliance across site teams
- Experience in steel plants or heavy industry environments is preferred

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
- English: Mandatory (spoken and written)
- Italian: Preferred but not essential
