Structural Engineer - Offshore Fabrication
Location: Yard-Based, Qatar | Offshore Oil & Gas Projects
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Offshore Structural Engineer with proven experience supporting fabrication and construction activities within the oil & gas sector. The role involves providing structural engineering expertise for offshore structures, including jackets, topsides, and subsea components, ensuring safe and efficient execution of yard operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor fabrication yard activities for offshore structures (jackets, topsides, subsea structures, etc.).
- Review and interpret structural fabrication drawings, lifting, and handling plans.
- Provide technical support during load-out, lifting, and sea-fastening operations.
- Conduct or witness structural inspections to verify compliance with design standards and project requirements.
- Resolve site queries and design non-conformities in collaboration with the engineering team.
- Perform and document structural calculations, preparing reports as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in offshore structural engineering, preferably within fabrication or yard environments.
- Proficient in SACS for structural analysis and design.
- Experienced in lifting, load-out, and transportation analysis, with working knowledge of DNVGL-ST-N001.
- Strong understanding of fabrication and erection methodologies.
- Familiarity with relevant international codes and standards (API RP2A, DNVGL, AISC, AWS).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
