Senior / Principal EICA Engineer – Water Sector
Location: Manchester or London (Hybrid – 2 days office-based per week)

The Opportunity
We are supporting significant growth across the water sector and are seeking an experienced Senior / Principal Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA) Engineer to join a highly skilled design team. This is a varied and dynamic role offering involvement across feasibility, FEED, detailed design, and construction support phases of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the UK.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage small teams of EICA engineers and designers across multiple concurrent projects.

Approve and oversee electrical and control design deliverables throughout project lifecycles.

Liaise and coordinate with clients, sub-contractors, contractors, and key stakeholders.

Develop Electrical Load Schedules and specify Telemetry Systems, MCCs, Instrumentation, and related control systems.

Prepare scopes for subcontract installation works and carry out technical bid evaluations.

Conduct site surveys, provide construction phase technical support, and participate in commissioning activities as required.

Ensure compliance with national and international standards, including WIMES and UK regulations.

Promote and champion safety, sustainability (Net Zero), quality, and best practice design principles.
Requirements

Degree or recognised apprenticeship in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering.

Chartered Engineer or actively working towards Chartered status with an appropriate professional body.

Proven background in EICA design within the water/wastewater sector.

Recent experience reviewing and approving design documentation for construction use.

Solid understanding of UK regulations including ATEX, CE/UKCA, EMC, PED and related safety standards.

Demonstrated ability to manage risk, ensure quality, and deliver technically sound, compliant designs.

Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative working skills.
