Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Welding and NDT Inspector to oversee welding, inspection, and quality assurance activities for major offshore oil and gas projects. The role involves supervising fabrication, construction, and offshore installation activities to ensure compliance with project and international quality standards. The position requires strong knowledge of welding processes, NDT techniques, and relevant codes, as well as experience with multi-disciplinary offshore projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgy, or equivalent discipline
  • Certified as American Welding Society SCWI, CSWIP 3.2 Certified Senior Welding Inspector, or approved equivalent
  • ASNT Level II certification in NDT methods (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT)
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant codes such as AWS, API, ASME, ASNT, EN, Shell DEP, ISO
  • Skilled in MS Office and database management
  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal/Lead Auditor is an advantage

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of welding and NDT inspection experience, including at least 5 years post-CSWIP 3.2 certification
  • Experience in oil and gas industry with international consultancy, third-party inspection/certification company, EPIC contractor, or end-user on major projects
  • At least 5 years experience in offshore projects
  • Familiarity with inspection of structure, piping, offshore pipelines, materials, and multiple welding processes, including UT/AUT/PAUT NDT techniques
  • Experience with welding of carbon steels, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, Monel, Inconel, CRA, weld overlay, and CUNI piping

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality requirements for fabrication, construction, and offshore installation activities are implemented in line with approved project procedures and standards
  • Verify that contractors, subcontractors, and vendors have competent resources and follow internationally accepted practices
  • Participate in inspections, surveillance visits, and audits of contractors, vendors, manufacturers, and third-party inspection/certification activities
  • Review project QC documentation, including inspection and test plans, method statements, work procedures, WPS/PQR, and material test certificates
  • Verify contractor personnel qualifications and equipment calibration
  • Attend material receiving inspections and monitor welding activities to ensure compliance with approved WPS
  • Witness PQR mechanical testing and welder qualification tests, evaluate visual and NDT results
  • Monitor daily NDT activities on site and at fabrication yards, interpret test results, and evaluate findings
  • Attend dimensional control inspections, including laser surveys, and witness/approve PWHT processes
  • Monitor in-process inspections of offshore steel structures and topside facilities, verifying conformity to project specifications, corporate standards, and international codes
  • Report daily to QA/QC Coordinator/Engineer and advise on contractor compliance to quality standards and contract procedures
  • Review, comment, and verify inspection and test reports, records, and material review boards (MRB)
