Overview

We are seeking an experienced Piping and Mechanical Quality Control Inspector to oversee inspection and quality assurance activities across offshore and onshore oil and gas projects. The role involves monitoring fabrication, installation, and construction activities to ensure compliance with project quality requirements and international standards. The position requires strong knowledge of piping, mechanical equipment, welding, NDT, and inspection procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, or Metallurgy discipline, or equivalent
  • Certification in American Welding Society CWI, CSWIP 3.1 Certified Welding Inspector, or approved equivalent is an advantage
  • ASNT Level II certification in NDT (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT) is an advantage
  • ISO 9712 PCN Radiography Interpretation Level 2 certification is preferable
  • API 510/570 certification is an advantage
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001:2015 standards; Lead Auditor certificate is preferable
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant codes such as API, ASME, ASNT, EN, Shell DEP, and ISO
  • Proficiency in MS Office and database management

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in piping and mechanical quality control inspection, including at least 5 years offshore
  • Experience covering pre-fabrication works as well as installation/construction phases
  • Experience inspecting carbon steels, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, Monel, Inconel, CRA, GRE, and CUNI piping
  • Experience in inspection of piping fabrication, pressure testing, line walks, flange management, and reinstatement
  • Experience inspecting mechanical equipment (static and rotating), including alignment, installation, and mechanical completion checks
  • Familiarity with inspection documentation systems such as ITR and punch list management

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with project quality plans, Method Statements, Inspection Test Plans, and procedures throughout the project lifecycle
  • Perform all aspects of piping and mechanical inspection activities, including material acceptance inspections and review of MTCs
  • Verify that piping and equipment installations conform to IFC drawings, P&IDs, ISOs, and project specifications
  • Review/witness Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) as required
  • Witness welder qualification tests (WQT) and evaluate results
  • Conduct piping fit-up and dimensional inspections, weld inspections before, during, and after welding, and verify material/weld traceability and NDT completion
  • Participate in piping test pack reviews, line walks, punch listing, reinstatement, hydrostatic testing, and mechanical completion checks
  • Inspect mechanical equipment installation, foundation checks, alignment, orientation, bolting/torquing, and final mechanical completion
  • Participate in material receiving inspections and periodic preservation checks for mechanical equipment
  • Conduct inspections, surveillance visits, and audits of contractors, subcontractors, vendors, manufacturers, and third-party inspection/certification activities
  • Identify non-conformances and report to Senior QA/QC Engineer for issuance of NCRs, CARs, or technical deviations
  • Liaise with contractor QC representatives to resolve issues and escalate critical matters to Senior QA/QC Engineer
  • Review and comment on project QC documentation such as ITPs, method statements, work procedures, inspection reports, piping test packages, and MRB/dossiers
  • Witness calibration of measuring equipment and verify calibration/inspection records of measuring and test equipment
  • Verify contractor personnel qualifications and monitor performance within their scope of competence
  • Provide QC inputs for daily and weekly reports and participate in site progress QC meetings with contractors and end-users
